Imagine you are on a beautiful sandy beach. Look down to your feet and with both hands scoop up as much sand as you can. Slowly let the grains fall between your fingers. Try to see every speck as it falls. Imagine now that you have to count every piece of sand in your hands, how long would that take? a daunting task to be sure, probably several days. Now imagine trying to count all the grains on that beach, impossible... step back again and try to picture all the grains of sand on every beach on our world. It is almost beyond human understanding. Now imagine that every single one of those grains were as big if not bigger than our sun and the distance between each of them was millions of miles. These are the stars. Try to think of it in these terms- proportionately if you placed a grain of sand in New York the next closest one would be in Washington DC. Now times that distance by the number of all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the earth, for each and every grain represents a star. That is the size of the known universe and it is still expanding....If only one in a million of those stars had a solar system similar to ours and only one in a million of those had the capability to have a 'Goldilocks' zone, where the planets are not too close but not too far from the sun,and one in a million of those could support life and only one in a million of those could have intelligent life, it still means their are millions of civilizations out there.... This week they found water on Mars. It has always been my sincere belief since I was a child that water was on that planet. I could see the evidence with my own eyes. But up until now it could not be proven, and now it has. My belief has come true.My hopes and dreams have come true. All the indications are that it was a planet very similar to ours, but being smaller in size meant that it cooled quicker and developed before the Earth.I believe that life once existed on that planet, and perhaps still does. that for now is belief only. But eventually it will be proven either way and will become a quantifiable fact. Science is beautiful. If by chance there is evidence of life existing on that planet, the probability of life outside our solar system increases again to an incredible number, statistically the universe will be teeming with life,it will be everywhere. We are not alone. That is my belief. Eventually this will be proven one way or the other.By science.
