I'm trying to pick between two songs: Rod Stewart's "Forever Young," and Blessid Union of Souls' "Light in Your Eyes."
The choice would be easy if I hadn't already recorded "Forever Young." i'm definitely leaning more towards the Blessid song. However, I'm not very happy with F.Y.-- I'm having trouble getting it to sound the way I want it. Also, I haven't got any "newer" songs-- mainly classic rock, plus the stuff I've written and I thought it might be nice to get a little more variety in there. And it'd be a cool song to arrange slightly differently from the original, try new stuff out on, and so forth.
So, basically I'm trying to decide whether it will be more work to re-do a bunch of stuff from "Forever Young" or just scrap it and record the other one, which is rather simple, just a couple acoustic guitars, some synth pads, and vocals... maybe some bass in there if I decide it needs it. I can't really pick between the two, so here's the question: if you've heard both songs, what's your opinion: Keep Forever Young and fix what needs fixing, or record Light in Your Eyes instead?
Cheers,
Abraxas
