Recently, my wife and I signed up for a service that delivers farm fresh, organic veggies and fruits straight to your doorstep.  For $30 a month, I get a package with an unknown element in it; I never know what they will be sending before I get it.

This month, I think I got the makings of a wonderful soup.  The box had a nice healthy fennel bulb (and greens!), some Dino Kale, fingerling potatoes and mushrooms.  Add in some garlic and some chicken stock (along with some dry white wine?) and we're in business!

The box came with some other great stuff:  cayenne peppers (MONSTER ones!), bosc pears (for poaching?), radishes, spinach and rapini...even some sugerpie pumpkins.  Those pumpkins are most likely going to become pies.  I just can't resist pumpkin pie.

I will, of course, post photos of dinner once it's all said and done.  I can't tease you folks like this.  ;)

were these items labeled with the above identifications?... I never even HEARD of some of those items.. let alone would have any idea of how to cook them (however.. just a note.. I think you could just eat the pears?.. don't have to poach them?.. just an idea.. ) as well as the radishes and spinach..
what is rapini?.. in english?.. and Dino Kale?.. is that Kale that the Flintstones raised?...

You never cease to fascinate me!! the lives of the Danville Residents are quite different from those of us in Rapid City (I bought some green peppers and onions today... and some cube- steak to start stock piling for Monique's late or early.. depending on when we get around to it.. birthday dinner!!)...

love you.. and will be looking forward to seeing the pictures. Would sure like to taste the finished products.. but probably not this batch!!

I should be able to post pictures tomorrow...as I plan on making the soup tomorrow. I just need to figure out what to pair it with. I'm thinking some nice angel hair pasta with a light garlic/olive oil sauce...perhaps some broiled fish or even a nice fillet mignon (or both, since Eugenia isn't a huge carnivore).
