Hi guys,
well
its been a long time since I kept up with things and I have been badly
delayed on many fronts for various reasons. But I am back now and have
lots of exciting news...after toying around with the idea of going
fully offline with my musical projects I kind of 'saw the light' and
took a couple of weeks 'off'...refreshed I am still certain that apart
from an old small EP in the summer on Acroplane, this may well be the
last Koen Park work I do...we'll see I guess.
Next up,
a little over a week ago I had two rather special releases come out and
in conjunction with some rather superb friends/artists under my Koen
Park guise...namely Koen Park: Remixes, Reworkings and Reimaginings
over at the excellent I, Absentee label and Koen Park: Remixes,
Reworkings and Reimaginings in a Quiet Form at my long term favourite
label and shop since I lived in Old Street, London - Smallfish records.
The first is a double CD (very limited), the second a little 3" CD.
Both releases see some very talented friends and artists remix work
from my Grey Night Clouds and Everything In Shadow albums (on
Experimedia), whilst disc 2 on the double album sees me remixing others
work over the past year. Here's the info:

Information:
All original music by Ian Hawgood. Original music on disc 1 taken from the Koen Park albums Grey Night Clouds and Everything In Shadow on Experimedia (http://www.experimedia.net) - available now. This album is partnered the 3" EP Koen Park Remixes, Reworkings And Reimaginings In A Quiet Form on Smallfish (http://www.smallfish.co.uk).
Thanks to Jeremy, Sean, Mike, Christian, Sven, Pedro, Warren and all
the artists involved for their great work, support and friendship. This
album is for my mate Tom.
Limited to 100 copies, individually numbered in the disc prints. Smallfish's companion 3" EP is available separately here, featuring additional ambient/minimal remixes from Corey Fuller, Konntinent, Jeremy Bible and Celer.
As
you can see at the bottom here, the Smallfish EP has remixes by the
rather excellent Corey Fuller, Konntinent, Jeremy Bible and Celer. From
what I understand the albums are selling out fast so if you want a copy
of either you have to be very very quick. The double album is dedicated
to my very very good friend and old chum Tom Priddle, the Smallfish EP
is for my sister Melanie. HUGE thanks to Sean at I, Absentee and Mike
at Smallfish for the love, friendship and support - and a special
thanks to all the artists who worked so hard on these great releases :)

the albums may well have sold out at some of these by now. If you are
an artist involved with these projects you WILL be getting a copy of
Everything In Shadow and the double album - and I am really sorry for
the delay in telling you about these releases as its been very very
hectic with the labels, almost moved and well, all sorts of the usual
really. I haven't got my copies of the I, Absentee releases yet due to
a cock up by the wonderful postal services of the world but once I do I
will send these out. If you are a distributor who would like copies of
the albums let me know or contact the labels directly.
Last
but certainly not least I also released my final net label album under
the Koen Park guise. It came out about 2 weeks ago on the wonderful
Acroplane label and was a kind of 2 year failed project of mine, and a
kind of science (or something like that) test of mine...maybe a social
study? Its called 'Computers Are Not Our Friends' and the artwork (some
might find it rather shocking ;) is by the wonderful Lisa (I Heart
Bellies / Willies) Crowne. If you don't know Lisa's artwork she's the
lass who did my Pastoral Pioneer cover and is frankly, a bit of a
genius. To see more, buy a tee shirt and contact her about work etc go
here:
http://www.myspace.com/iheartwilliesThe
album was intended to sort of break new ground for me, to push the
details of my electronic work out far more than just having fun old my
old vintage gear and its been 2 years in the making. But I just
couldn't push it any further without ruining it really as I seem to
have lost my electronica edge recently :( and so I happily left it
alone and realised, with all its inadequecies it was still the most
experimental and ambitious work I had done...originally to be called
The Grace Period...I decided to make it all political and slag off the
internet (oh the irony)...and people (net nerds) weren't happy...I also
got political but more for fun and boredom of the whole American
election than anything...again upsetting some people! Its a pretty
weird record by Koen Park standards...and it may well be my last Koen
Park album...dunno...I will have one final Koen Park mini-album at
Acroplane in September but this is very old garage jams - more melodic
again...but that's it for me mostly on that front...for a while at
least. To get the (free) album go here and please don't be too shocked
by the words and pictures...i do love computers, honest:
http://www.acroplane.co.uk/node/211Huge
thanks to Paul for this and his constant support. Also, go download a
bunch of the other stuff from the label - its superb (especially
Automatic Tasty, Red Box recorder, Vertical 67, WagaWaga and
RV/VL...among others). This is also likely to be my last net release
for a very very long time (not inc the sept release) as I am just too
booked up with other stuff for at least the next year...
