Rapper David Banner is bringing an animated view of his native Mississippi to the small screen with his new Cartoon Network show The Crook'd Sipp. The series, which is the newest addition to the channel's Adult Swim line up, follows the Beauregards, a white family mentally stuck in the 1800s, while living in present day Mississippi. Banner provides the voice of the show's main character Virgil, who offers his views on the Beauregards and the world as told "from the viewpoint of a young black progressive man in Mississippi.""Although the cartoon is very funny, there's a lot of things we have the opportunity to talk about...this is an opportunity we don't usually get; it's an opportunity to depict our own culture and control the images that come out," Banner said. The Crook'd Sipp airs Sunday (May 13) at 12:15 a.m. EST on Cartoon Network.
