So, I live on a narrowboat... with my lovely wife plus no pets or kids (for the time being!).
People often ask me the ins and outs of our chosen life on the canals of England, so I thought I'd write a few words for those who have expressed an interest...

Simply put, it's bliss... utter bliss, we moved onto our boat mid December and we have loved the cold months on board, it's easy to stay warm if you have coal, wood and the odd firelighter! The solid fuel burning stove (see below) keeps us toasty, sometimes it's like a sauna - no kidding. The trick being you never let it go out! Stoke it up before bedtime and it's still burning in the morning.

It even keeps you warm when this is going on outside...

Yes, that's our boat! in the snow! in Paddington basin!
This is how it looks when it's fairer outside...

The above picture was taken in the first couple of weeks of owning the boat, we cruised slowly from Cheddington to Uxbridge - we were stranded in Uxbridge due to severe engine problems (apparently it could have blown up), but it's all fixed now and we have enjoyed spending time in Camden, Little Venince, Denham and Paddington (Uxbridge wasn't overly enjoyable - I've nothing against Uxbridge - I just don't like it!).

People that have visited us on the boat comment on the lack of space, however, I've felt more claustrophobic in most large suburban "homes". It's all a question of perception .

I shall add to this blog from time to time, there are many stories to be told...

Thanks for reading...
