Washington Post Guest Book

Dear friends - There is no easy way to write this email, and while I would rather call you all personally, I just can't find my voice right now without crying. Jon passed away Saturday night from a drug overdose. That is what we believe/know at this time. He just got back in the States from an amazing European music tour on Friday. He was doing so well and, well, I guess he thought he was invincible and wanted to celebrate his return. I can't even begin to imagine how he really felt though.

The funeral is this Tuesday, May 5, at 2pm at King David Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy., Falls Church, VA 22042. More details will be in Monday & Tuesday's Wash Post.

Thank you all so much for your overflow of calls and love and support. Know that I truly appreciate it and I am so thankful to have so many friends who knew Jon and love us. Love, Andrea (Jon's Loving Sister)

Dear Andrea and the guys of Rezin,
Words cannot express how terribly sorry I am to hear about your loss. I did not know John well, but from all those evenings I accompanied Ron Delay and Chris Montrie to hear Rezin practice back in the day, I know that he was an amazing musician and a dear friend to those who were close to him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this terrible time. I am absolutely assured that we will always enjoy the music he made, and remember him with a smile.
Yours truly,
Dana Moss

Andrea, Pete, Matt, all. My thoughts are with you, and all of Jon's friends. I feel empty. The last time I saw him he seemed at peace, and truly, happier than I had seen him in a long time. I felt genuine warmth from and towards him. I will remember him, smiling. Ariana and I are currently out of the country but we send our deepest condolences to you all.

Love,

Dave Peers

Jon will be missed! I had wonderful times hanging with him back in the day and he was a great person and a lot of fun to be around. He was taken way too young. Give his family my condolences.

I just got to know the guy briefly from the few days I spent with the WINO band on tour, the two evenings he was hanging out at my house and the Roadburn festival. Not only was he a super-nice and easy going guy, he also was a fantastic bass player and it is so sad to see one like him go.

I can't really find words.

He will truly be missed.

I had the pleasure of Jon joining in for my 30th birthday celebration on bass with Dave Hill and friends. The best gift ever was a CD made with a homemade cover with all four musicians. Jon had the greatest smile. I am glad I have that memory and many other musical nights with Jon's presence. He was a great musician. Sorry for the loss.

I didn't know Jon very long. He was my 10 year old's guitar teacher. My son really looked forward to his Saturday afternoons with him. Jon is the first person my son personally knew who has died and is a little shocked by this whole thing. We will miss him.

that really sucks, man. if there were words that people could say that could make loosing someone easier everyone would know them and say them and it wouldn't be bad to lose anyone. there obviously are no such words. i'm truly sorry for your loss, guys. truly. i didn't know Jon very well and although he didn't get my sense of humor at all (he thought i was annoying for sure as you know), i liked him a lot and thought he was a "genuine" person with some great talent. it's hard to lose anyone you know, but even harder when that person still had soo much to contribute, and i think he was really just getting started. mr

Jon, you will always be with us because of the gift that you had and with your gift help my daughter to tune into hers, for this you will always be remembered. Words cannot explain the dismay as to how we feel about the news we just got this morning, unbelievable, not real. are we dreaming not Jon, the cool laid back guy that came to my home and sat down with my Aaron to yet pull out more of her gift that the two of you shared. You always said Aaron your my first student and my best. We will miss you and will see you again one day.

I origially met Rezin when my friend Shana from Unsung Hero interviewed them.

I Later got to know them better when we ourselves formed a band "ChYkn on Gate" and had the priveledge of playing with them in Baltimore.

I will never forget that experience.

We will miss Jon very much!

Rock on my friends!

I remember one night where Jon was promoting down at firehouse cue and Jason and I (eat your neighbors) drove down to hang out with him and friends. he was so grateful, positive and fostering of our vision as musicians, it was beautiful."
I also remember when Jon played bass for me in 'scrohawk' and would wake up early on sundays to crunch in yet another practice into his schedule simply because he thought i was cool and enjoyed my musical vision. the age of musicians like this is fading. Jon represented one of the cornerstones of our communal idea of a music scene and I will always love who he was and what he represented.

I only learned today of Jon's passing and am deeply saddened by this news. I met him when he was in a little trio band Kaotic Serenity some many years ago.  He was just one of those people who always had an easy smile on his face and a breezy nature. We were not friends so much as people whose paths cross from time to time, but he always took a minute to stop and say Hi.  I will miss bumping into you at shows Jon.

Wow... I can't believe this I didnt know because I've been in NC for several years and shamefully finally have looked up Rezin because you are my favorite local band. I met Jon years ago maybe 15-20 years ago at a bar he was playing at. I remeber hanging out with him at the basement lounge and I m in shock to hear this dreadful news. Im so sorry for everyone's loss. He was a cool guy and a very talented individual. I just can't think of anymore to say because I just read this, God rest his soul and the only way I think is that at least he doesn't have to put up with the bs in this world. Im so sorry.
