This week at Baptist Bible College is the "missions conference", always good and challenging.Today someone spoke on the importance of evangelism around our world,he showed us a ton of statistics and then used math equations to show us how many people we would have to witness to everyday to convert the whole world (this kind of bothered me because i dont think that has any validity at all, life is not figured out by math equations). But, he showed us one statistic of how many converts asia, africa, south america, Europe and north america had every day.... this was shocking to me. China and Africa were having around 25 or 26 thousand converts while over here in the west we have about 3,000 a  day. What is wrong with this? We live in a free country where were aloud to believe whatever wewant, do what we want, and say what we want and no one is being saved, while in China and Africa people are being killed everyday for their faith, China has the most converts a day out of any country in the world and it is also one of the most persecuted.

I think part of the problem is that we have it way to easy over here, we have all of these white middle class republican christians that dont ever have to deal with anything more serious than what flavor they want their starbucks coffee to be. Another problem is that we are not preaching the wrath of God, or sin or (heaven forbid) HELL!! WE preach these happy 'feel good' messages like "If you get saved all your money problems will be solved". It's stupid Crap like this that has screwed up the Church so much in the past years. The Gospel is offensive, it is raw and it is sometimes very painful to hear, but with out this pain we will never know the true joy's of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Last night on the way home from our soccer game, i was talking with some of the guys about persecution and how america doesntreally go through any. One friend said that he hoped for persecution and eagerly awaited it. My first thought was "NO WAY, i dont want to go through that, im perfectly happy right now." but after thinking about it for i bit i decided that it will be so beneficial for the Church. To actually have to live out our faith! No more fake Christians. So, i guess what i am saying is that we as American Christians need to make sure we arent being lazy, and remember that around the world our brothers and sisters are being martyred for having the same faith that we do. Also, we need to preach the TRUE Gospel, the Gospel that, although offensive reveals to us eternal life.

I know you don't like math, but if you look further into the numbers you posted, it's not as bad as it first looks. In the end it ends up being respectively twice as many converts in China, since there are just a little more people over there. It's not good at all, but a little less disheartening. I don't really see much persecution in our future because it's more effective for Satan to keep us content and comfortable than to give us a reason to seek God. Churchy! (I thought I would persecute you a little)

Its the "feel good" messages that churches give that have brought many Christians to the mind-set that "sin is sin and all is forgiven", therefore giving very little thought to the consequences of the sin.  How do I, as a Christian, confront a fellow brother or sister in Christ about a known, repeating sin without forsaking the message of love and forgiveness?!  It is such a hard line to follow and I'm still without answers after contemplating this question for years!

Very thought-provoking entry!
