I've been intrigued by the Gibson "Robot" guitars since they debuted a year or two ago...they have motorized tuning pegs and you can dial up a number of different tunings on them which then get tuned automatically...at first there were only a couple of models and they had "metallic" colors that I didn't like at all but they've expanded the models and the color selection.  At about $3,000 they've been waay too pricey for me, but I notice a dealer is blowing them out the door for about $1500 for an SG and $1800 for a Les Paul...I'm broke, but wanted to spread the word...I've been dabbling in open tuning slide for the last year or two, and for folks who do that these axes should be very interesting...

Here's a link to an SG Robot Special:

Let me know if you buy one!  I'll drop by to try it out!!!

Aloha, Roger...one of my aliases is Honolulu Hugo, that just might be arranged...lol...I did a rough demo of a tune called "With You" that a number of friends say should get me leied...

Back to bidness...I stopped by Guitar Center and tried one of those SG Robots. I dig it in the traditional SG cherry. BUT...I bought a '61 reissue within the last year and they won't give me squat for trade in and I don't tend to let axes outta my hands once they're in 'em, so even at about $1500 I don't think I'm gonna have motorized tuning. Might've done it if I could have traded and paid a hundred or two. It's ok though - the '61 reissue is actually a nicer axe than the standard that gets robotized, so either way it's cool.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaawk!
