This week I accepted a position as a worship pastor at a church in Willard, Ohio, effective September 1.
I
definitely have mixed emotions about the move. I've known for nearly a
year that my time in Tacoma would be coming to a close this summer, so
I've tried to prepare myself mentally for it. I'm going to miss the
church here, I'm going to miss all my incredible friends, and I'm going
to miss the snow-covered mountains that sometimes try to kill me, tall
trees, the Pacific ocean, and 70 degree summer days. I've lived here
now for nearly four years, and in many ways I feel more at home in the
northwest than I do anywhere else. My last Sunday here will be August
23.
At the same time, I'm excited about the move. I'll be doing
something things I really enjoy, and working with a good friend at the
church. My parents live about 35 miles away, so I'll be able to see
them more often than once or twice a year. My sister and her family
live within half a days drive. Some of my best friends live in the
area. I'll even be able to catch some Ohio State games.
For my
friends in Washington, I hope we get to spend some quality time
together in the next five weeks or so. You're also welcome to visit me
in Ohio, as I'm sure you already know its reputation as a tourist
destination. I'm sure I'll be back to visit.
For those of you living in Ohio, I look forward to getting to see you again. It's been way too long.
