let's see if we can get it right this time [aka how about jeff doesn't break hisself again before show time.

the details!!!!!!!
Friday August 10th 7:30pm

ARMALITE (First Hometown Show In 1.5 Years!) -- it's us, nothing else to say on this one! oh except that we were supposed to play in march but i broke my hand and once that got better i broke my collar bone. it's fixed now and it should be healed very soon and i promise to be careful until this show is over and done with. promise!

THE ERGS! -- these guys are great and i know this first hand. at no idea gainesville the fest V [and one other time that i know of, but they probably do it a lot], they ended a few songs with the stage ending that THE CLASH tacked onto the song "Tommy Gun" i guess cause it fits in with the machine gun sounding drum roll theme. anyways, i joke about that ending a lot, do it in rehearsals to be funny and told everyone to expect it at the ARMALITE fest performance in the hopes that it would make it onto the dvd. well, THE ERGS played like two slots before us and totally did it. it was awesome. so everyone got a double dose of THE CLASH-inspired stage endings that night.

PINK RAZORS -- these guys played that same show at the fest v. they played right before us and they were great too except when the one guitar player kept misreading his tuning pedal and his one string [G ?] a half step above where it should have been. it was particularly brutal sounding because he was playing harmonies that went along with what the other guitar and bass were playing ie notes that stand out because they are not voiced in other instruments and because they are thirds and fourths [which are further up along the overtone scale and more prominently 'color' the overall sound of whatever chords the band as a whole is playing]. anyways, this was the only time i've ever seen them pull such a maneuver, so i have little doubt that they are going to be anything other than awesome at this show.

THE STEAL (U.K.) -- i haven't heard this band, but their music is featured on the internet, so you can find it. they come recommended by ARMALITE bass player dan yemin, as two of his other musical acts [PAINT IT BLACK and LIFETIME] have played along side them in europe and he has had very positive things to say. if that isn't enough to convince you, andy nelson [who plays with dan in PAINT IT BLACK] [oh yeah! and he just played in LIFETIME too for a tour, but do you count him as a member? i'll check it out] is working behind the scenes on this show has placed them on the bill because he also has great things to say about them. man, this show is going to be great!

At The First Unitarian Church
(2125 Chestnut Street In Philadelphia, PA)
All Ages / $8 [$10 day of, so get them in advance dunnie!] / Tickets At R5Productions.com & Relapse Records Shop
so august 10th is andy nelson's birthday and august 19th is jeff ziga's birthday and this show, as well as the after party events, are going to be brought to you by these two mega important people and their birthdays. so that means we're going to talk about how it's our birthdays and tell everyone to bring us presents. good gift ideas are rare records, expensive aged whiskey, tight pants, fancy sunglasses, oasis 12"s, stone roses 12"s [for andy cause i have almost all of them!], an unbreakable skeleton replacement procedure, a wii and whatever else you can think of. thanks in advance! oh and maybe a karaoke party at the front and olney place.
