1. Better In Binaural

I got the rhythm, you got the blood

Gather them round, see what you got

When it's together you know it's right

Play it till the morning light

Money for nothing, nothing for free

We got the chutzpah to see out the night

Play it till the morning light

And every now and then I wish that I could do it on my own

But then I realise that everything sounds monotone

I'm glad I'm not alone

A "sorry, son" is all I need, to break me from this old routine

Taken from a movie scene

We made it. For a while.

2. Cold In The Sunshine

She was the one who threw sand in my eyes

The beach was alright, but it's not paradise

The car was packed like we weren't coming back

And my eyes were filled with her soul

She kept me guessing because I couldn't understand

Bound for a place like she'd held in her hand

Looked so old, covered with gold that are things she created from lead

I smiled at her and she sort of smiled at me

We swung around by a sycamore tree

Marks in the bark of a tree in the park

Were all that's left to say you were here

Love, don't be here in the morning, because I know you don't want to stay

Leave me cold in the sunshine, because I know that it was meant to be this way

Years parted by and I left it behind

Dreams safely stored in the back of my mind

Kept myself doped on reality's rope

And I hung myself out with real life

Tried to suppress everything that was good

But it all flooded back with a strange piece of wood

Nothing could hide the marks in the side

And my mind just started to flood

Trapped by the days when you were the one

Dancing alone in The Merry-Go Sun

Caught by a shot that I'd almost forgot

Now it's all that's left to say you were here

3. 36 & 105

Don't cry in the morning when you see the summer die

36 and 105: another day will come

4. Studied All The Signs

There is a drought of little doubt, who will sign you clear?

There's a frown on every hound who will buy you a cheer

Yer making pennies again, you really should see a friend

When it gets the end it really could be a doozy

Make the nine o'clock newsy

That do me. That'll do me.

There is a sign with a vine and it's pointing to the sky,

You couldn't make it up

And when I see you, I really want to leave you with a coin in your cup

Studied All The Signs.

5. Acres of You

Monday, midday I think that's the time

Sitting by a window where the sun don't shine

Hard to be a faker in the cold light of day

Need distracted, something to do, wander back to my room with no view

Power up your paper, finish off your tome

Picture myself in the best of health living with you

We've got everything,

We've got acres of view, we've got acres of you

Kook me, spook me, bake me a pie

Can't see the wood cos I've got a bad eye

Theresa chopped the trees down now there's nowhere to play

Ever had a look at my meadow?

Won't you come and tend to my hedgerow?

Prune me, spoon me, Mills & Boon me

You've got to ride the pain and then you've got to write your name

Taking out the rubbish when your sty's a home,

Rubbing all the pictures when you think your not alone

Have a seat baby, let your woe be gone

Do a bad number - got to have a "day one"

Stick it on a plate and let me eat it cold

Didn't mama tell you not sniff at black gold?

"I didn't really come here to admire the view"

I was up in space. Where on earth were you?

(I was in the garden, she was writing letters regarding me)

6. Garden of View

She's on my mind, she's on my mind, (alot)

She wasn't alone anymore, sitting in a garden with you

I wonder what I could do, sitting in the garden of love

Mixing all the marzipan, laughing with a man whose name is Stan

He was the one who told us not to cry

Love in the valley, nothing was all we had

They were the Romans, after all

They told us not to blow it all. But we did, in the end.

Nothing was easy when the soldiers came,

Digging a hole to the gold all the same

It was hard, being alone

Living with a man who told us not to cry if they took us away

Way down, the valley goes, where it stops - nobody knows

Everybody sees it with their eyes, maybe they'll come if we all get high.

What was the time when I could see your eyes sitting in the garden?

Garden of View, and then we all went home and had a cup of tea.

7. Dig, Dig, Dig

Take a look at the farmer. We all know that he's a survivor.

Take a swim by the sundial, mock the shadow if you want to revive her

You don't need to sign your name - bet you've got to run, there's a time and place for fun

"There's a fog ahead," so they said

I don't even think you know the way

I don't even think you know the way to love

Dig, dig, dig everybody a hole, dig, dig, dig right to your soul

I've got something to bury,

Early birdy, wormy squirmy. I am digging,

And it's something that I just can't hide

Make a note of the dead men, write a letter to the women who wed them

Sign the back with a crosshair. Show a lack of any mercy, to go there,

You don't need a living name, got you on the run, it's a crying shame that one

Ain't enough to play, so they say

8. Till The Morning Brings My Train

Your love is gonna freeze, it's brought me to my knees

I do not feel ashamed, and I can feel no pain til the morning brings my train

I want you back again, you said you were my friend

You could at least pretend til the morning brings my train

Until the morning brings my train, my love, enough's enough for me and you

I'd walk me to the door but I can't stand up no more

I can't get up to go. So welcome to this low. Without warning, "hiya day"

I'll make this ticket pay, I've nothing left to say

I'll make it home again, when the morning brings my train

Anytime past midday ain't fine

I think of all the times we once had found about a million ways to think of good times through the haze

But I can't in a million years. I never knew what you knew,

Fear will find it's way back again, and when it does it ain't my friend

9. Smiling With The Commandant

I'm smiling with the commandant,

He's standing with a debutante

I'm smiling with the commandant, I've got a good idea what he wants.

Take showers with an officer,

0500 I report to sir

We're fighting to preserve your lives, I'm a substitute for seven wives

I know what's up wi' you.

10. The News From The North

Looking at a man in a little beach shack: the product of a session and he has to watch his back

He's got the brains in a bag in a box in a room in a house with a door that locks,

He has to watch his back

Washing out the rocks trying to find some gold,

Melting down the metal on a centrefold because they love you

The news from the north didn't waste no time,

The suckers in the south couldn't spare you a dime because they love you

Left at the desk (with the sales) where he wept, he's an apprentice

He's got the brains in a jack-in-a-box in a room in a house with a door that locks

Run -  I said - run!
