This is a very rough demo of a little tune I wrote in January in Los Angeles at Dan Lanois place.

It's kinda a funny story.. I was playing a bit on the piano trying to entertain myself when Dan came up and asked "what's that melody?" I said "dunno ,just fuckin around a bit" He went out for a coffee and said "try to make a song out of that by the time I get back"... I was kinda freaked out, and him saying that made me a little insecure but it definitely was a challenge ..

Anyways we recorded a demo of it the next morning lucky enough that Brian came in..

"Pieces- Anywhere I go.."

Brian Blade on drums
Daniel Lanois on lapsteel
Trixie Whitley- keys, bass pedal, vocals ,lyrics

Let me know your thoughts...
I'm grateful-

ps:I don't normally do this but I'm going to post the lyrics to this song as some of you have been asking for them..

In the graveyard of modern days
the sensual touch is
all that remains
you blew the fragile grace
on my skin and, in my face

*chorus
Leaving pieces behind, anywhere I go
Every time I go
I'm leaving behind my soul
Leaving pieces of mine, everywhere I go
Braking in to pieces every time I grow

Constant dozing
The rose of the mind flow
Emptiness is always on the go
Gliding in the mirrors
Gathering the symptoms
of all we have
And all we don't know

*chorus
Leaving pieces behind, anywhere I go
Every time I go
I'm leaving behind my soul
Leaving pieces of mine, everywhere I go
Braking in to pieces every time I grow

Sometimes writing under pressure makes you dig deep into the subconscience. Jagged thoughts and feelings emerge. "Braking in pieces every time I grow" is an interesting line. Brake used as slowing down not fragmentation. (Hope not a typo) I like very much.

A haunting ballad in this form. (I can almost hear it as a more driving rock tune as well.) And thanks for sharing lyrics. I am so eager to hear an album.

This song touches me every single time I hear it. Can't believe how beautiful, fragile, yet immensly powerful it is! Thanks for putting this one up on your page and I hope it'll find it's way to the record. Don't change a note! :-)

This song touches me every single time I hear it. I simply can't believe how utterly beautiful, fragile, yet immensly powerful it is. I hope it will find it's way to the upcoming album. Please don't change a note! :-)
