Now, for the story........
June 5th at 3 am my water broke at home in of all places the bathroom.....lol I got to the hospital and some things were alarming...first, i was bleeding profusely and they could not find the babies heartbeat...after 3 nurses tried and 20 minutes had passed, I began to get very frustrated and concerned. In 1998, I had twins who were stillborn and those feelings began to rush back. I just knew there was something wrong with her. Laying there waiting to hear something come from the monitor, I prayed more than I have in months. I asked God over and over to let me hear even the faintest of sounds. FINALLY, after almost 30 minutes, there she was on the monitor. A strong heartbeat. Around 5 am they brought in the ultrasound machine and took a look to see where little miss Raine was. She was exactly like she was supposed to be...head down...which, for those of you who know the story of my last delivery...an emergency c-section due to my baby being sideways, you know this was a welcomed site.
Daddy showed up a couple of hours later and from there, it was pretty much routine...he helped me through the contractions, one minute we were on the birthing ball, the next we were walking around, the next I was laying in the bed  moaning with him right there rubbing my back and comforting me, like I said, all routine.....until 3 pm when they decided I was not progressing fast enough and they needed to give me pitocin to speed the process up. THIS is when I punked out...I have had 5 of my previous 6 children natural and this time I thought "what the hell, this is my last time, might as well have some pain relief" So, i got the epidural.
They started the pitocin and I went to sleep. Daddy took a nap and I woke up around 6:20 with the feeling that this was it. I looked over and daddy was drooling....lol. I woke him up and told him that it was not going to be much longer. About that time, the nurse walked in and checked me. I was right. It was time. They paged my midwife and daddy decided he would take the time to go to the restroom....bad choice! My midwife started suiting up and I used my cell phone to call daddy (who was in the restroom) and tell him to get back to the room now because I was about to push. He walked in just as they were setting my leg in place (I did say LEG. I had her laying part on my side part on my back with only one leg in the sturrip). My midwife told me to push when I was ready and 3 pushes later.... at 6:56 pm........... MARIYAMA MALIHA-RAINE!!!!
Now, this is where the story gets funny.....we waited for the cord to stop pulsing while she was laying on my stomach before daddy cut the cord. When it was time, he took the scissors and like the pro he is...cut the cord and proceeded to kidnap our child.....he wrapped her in the blanket they gave him and sat down on the couch with our new bundle of joy...whom I had only gotten a glimpse of...and stayed there...........until she peed on him..and at that time got up and stood with her. The nurses finally had to tell him to give her to them so they could put her under the warmer and check her vitals.....mind you this is abour 30 minutes after she was born. He stood over here like a vulture the whole time they were touching her...he didn't even want to give her back to me afterwards. I didn't get to hold my child until we made it to the room at almost 10:30. His son Antonio and partner 337 were there and he let them hold for a minute or two a piece. He was too funny....I have never seen anyone be that wrapped so quickly.
And it has not stopped. He kidnaps her everyday and even I am not the most important person in her life...if it weren't for the fact that he needed me to breastfeed her...I would probably never see my baby.
Now, I am not complaining. God knows we need more daddies like this.....but why oh why do they have to forget we are alive when that bundle of joy is in their arms? What are we? UPS??? Deliver it to them and are no longer needed....lol
So, there it is.....the story of our wonderful child and how she got here. For those who are reading, I do apologize if you didn't get the text message on the 6th...that just means I didn't have your number and I just got back online tonight for the first time in months....but I am back now and hopefully it will be for good.
