Hello and Happy New Year. Thanks to everyone who helped out for our first anniversary show back in November. We're still not entirely sure how we managed to fit all the Earlies onto the St Moritz stage.

2007 brings a few changes for the Pigeon Hole. We'll be doing occasional one-off shows in different venues in addition to our regular(ish) monthly night. The first of these is at the Flea Pit on 2nd January and features the wonderful Jakob Olausson and James Blackshaw. The Flea Pit is a fantastic, intimate venue near Old Street - the main bar there will be open all day for drinks and home-made food before the show. Due to the size limitations, tickets are strictly limited and are available (as are tickets for all our shows) from www.wegottickets.com.

The Pigeon Hole at The Flea Pit, 49 Columbia Road, E2 7RG (Old Street tube)

8.30 - £6 or £5 advance from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/15481

Jakob Olaussen

Jakob Olausson is travelling over from Sweden for a short UK tour and we're very proud to be presenting his only London date. Jakob has been operating well below the radar, his music emerging only as limited CDRs as the Joshua Jugband Five before his first album under his own name last year. Psych-folk masterpiece 'Moonlight Farm' was released last year by US label De Stijl and sold out almost immediately. Word of mouth amongst blogs and fellow musicians (Ben Chasny, Wooden Wand) has raised the album to modern classic status. Whilst reference points like Skip Spence and Six Organs of Admittance are useful signposts, Jakob is a true original. This rare appearance is not to be missed.

James Blackshaw

Sharing the bill with Jakob is the phenomenal guitarist James Blackshaw. He covers a multitude of bases from rippling, layered folk to heady ragas and fingerpicked blues. For all his virtuousity and intricacy, the strong melodic heart of his compositions ensures they're never less than enchanting. His 2006 album O True Believers garnered fawning praise from all who encountered it and we're delighted that he's finally playing at the Pigeon Hole.

"The most gem-like overlooked album this year ... He deserves ticker tape parades.' Kitty Empire, The Observer

"an instrumentalist of astonishing grace and delicacy" Pitchforkmedia

The Exploits of Elaine

Hailing from Nottingham, the Exploits of Elaine use a myriad of instruments to forge a sound that takes in post-rock and drone and promises a captivating live performance.

Glissando

This Leeds band have been touring the country with the Exploits of Elaine, playing wintry, washed-out psychedelia which recalls the likes of Flying Saucer Attack. Great stuff.
