December 7, 2006 - Mates Studio ( PREPRODUCTION )I don't have much time to write. We are at the rehearsal studio ( Mates Studio in North Hollywood ) doing preproduction for the album with our producer, Mark Trombino. We have had pretty long days ( 11 AM - 10 PM ) and have a few days left. I thought I'd post some pictures I took quickly with my computer while we were on break. Hopefully, we'll have some more time available to take some pics and make some posts. Next week we will begin tracking the album in Eagle Rock.
One last thing ... we received two parking violations the first three days of being in LA. Not cool.

December 8, 2006 - Mates Studio ( PREPRODUCTION )
While Austin was learning how to play drums, I decided to take some pictures. It is our last day at the rehearsal studio and then we have the weekend off, legit. Here they are ...

Travis is so excited to work with Mark.

I found a sweet really big hoodie.

The effects on my computer stopped working for this picture, so I
wasn't able to use any on Austin, just raw.

David was playing his favorite video game, DOOM,
while I took this picture.

December 9, 2006 - Hollywood ( DAY OFF )
Today was our first day off and it was pretty eventful. We woke up and had breakfast at the 101 Cafe (which is the cafe that a scene in Pulp Fiction was filmed at, pretty sweet, but my french toast was lame). After that, we headed to our trailer to grab some merch to send out (if you ordered merch, it's on the way!) and we were welcomed with a surprise, our trailer had been tagged. How fortunate. Oh well, REO Speedwagon was at the rehearsal studio today and their gear was nuts. To cheer ourselves up, we drove straight pass about 25 barricades right up to the stage of The Hollywood Bowl, snuck inside and hung out. Then we went to the mall, which I'm not a fan of. Here are some sweet pics.

December 11, 2006 - Music Friends Studio ( DRUM SETUP )Today is our first day at the tracking studio, Music Friends in Eagle Rock, CA. There is so much gear that there is only room for a few of us to sit inside. We weren't involved with too much today. It was strictly a setup day... making sure drums sounded good, monitors were in place, doing scratch tracks, and getting all of our producers gear up and running. I'm a gear nut, so I took a bunch of pictures of the studio gear. It's pretty nuts and so packed that I couldn't really get a full room shot. Most of you don't know what this stuff is, but for those of you who do, I thought it deserved a post.

December 14, 2006 - Music Friends Studio ( DRUM TRACKING )Austin has been tracking drums for the past four days. We will be finishing up drums today and then will have a few days off. We begin tracking bass on Monday. We'll have some more shots of us working soon. For now, I took some pictures of the studio space (backyard, tracking room, studio from the outside, etc.). We are stoked to be tracking the album here, the place is beautiful. Here's what it looks like.

December 21, 2006 - Hollywood ( LATE POST )In the last blog I made, I mentioned that Austin was finishing up drum tracks and that we were looking forward to a few days off. I haven't been too good lately with updating ... with that said, David is already done with his bass parts and now we've started guitar. Now we must backtrack. Here are some pictures of our drum sessions with Austin tracking. I'll be sure to make another blog in a day or two on David's progress. Pictures, sweet ...

January 22, 2007 - Music Friends ( VOCAL TRACKING )I have pretty much failed on continuing the recording blog, I apologize. It has been a long 6-7 weeks now, and we are almost done! We have background vocals and extra guitar layering left. We should be leaving LA this Friday to head back to Phoenix. Some exciting things have happened over the past few weeks though. Here are some short examples of two of them ...
- We all went to a rap show. Yup, imagine every member of Goodbye Tomorrow backstage at the TI, Chingy, Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy, Steve Harvey, E-40, Rick Ross, Le Toya, Lloyd concert. Legit. Send us comments if you're jealous.
- While eating at McDonalds, some lady runs in asking us for a fire extinguisher for her car which is "on fire." No doubt, we look at the window and her Ford Explorer is launching 5 foot flames in the air from her engine.
Now, for some pictures...
