So I just thought I should give you all the story behind the song 'Since You've Been Gone.'  This song was written for AJ Dague who got locked up about 2 years ago.  I've known AJ for about 14 years now.  AJ and my younger brother Trevor have been best freinds since they were around 5 years old, so he's basically become another little brother to me since he's been around pretty much from the beginning.  AJ is the outgoing one while my brother is more laid back, sorta like Jay and Silent Bob.  They would go out partying on the weekends and get into some trouble every now and then, but they we're just having fun and doing what most teenagers do.  Unfortunately, somewhere along the line AJ took a wrong step and ended up stepping into some stuff he shouldn't have.  I wont go into the details about what happened, but it was a choice he made without thinking about the concequences that could come....  And they did come....  Measure 11.... 6 years minimum....  Lifes a bitch!!!!!!  We all still keep him in our hearts, and keep praying that some kind of miracle will happen.  Just maybe they'll at least take some time off his sentence so he can come back home a little sooner to be with his family and freinds, and have his life back again.  They say everything happens for a reason.  If this is true then I just wanna kno, what kind of fucked up reason is behind this????

Anyways, back to the song.  This song was written for AJ, who will hopefully get to hear it sometime soon.  When I wrote this song I wrote the first verse with my brother Trevor, the second verse with AJ's sister Melanie, and the third verse on my own.  The first verse me and my brother sat down and wrote one night.  I had my brother make a list of things that have happened since AJ's been gone and how its affected his life.  Then we took the list he made and turned it into the first verse.  So its sorta like Trevor is speaking through me because the first verse is all things Trevor thought and wanted to say.  We just took the list of random thoughts he wrote down and put them together to make it into his verse to AJ.  I did the same thing with AJ's sister Melanie for the second verse.  She made a list of things that have happened since he's been gone and how its affected her life, then we put it together to make it into her verse to AJ.  After the first two verses were done I locked myself in the studio for a night, wrote the last verse and the chorus, recorded the song and now here it is!

This song is for you AJ.  Since you've been gone its not the same without you, we cant wait until the day you can come back home.  Always remember you have family and freinds that will always love you and be there for you through all this mess.  You are in our thoughts everyday.  Stay up!

Thank you everybody for listening.

Glenn this song that we all wrote has actually helpped me in so many ways...mainly coping and just being able to keep goin its what i listen to whenever i miss him or whenever i have things i wanna say to him but i cant. that second verse is my heart it truely is. thank u so much for doing that for him and for me. aj did deserve to get a sentence for what he did but 6 years is over the top and he doesnt deserve that. He's learned and now its time to let him out and make him a better person. i wanna get together wit u again and make another song to aj but not since youve been gone...just how i feel about everything u know? well anyways glenn i love u and when aj heres this song i think its gunna impact him hella.
