Who Gives Kudos:

Saturday, November 08, 2008
You Me The Switch are walking towards the bright white light never to return.Yes that's right, after six years and fifty or so shows, we are splitting up, dissolving, calling it a day.

We are playing our last show on the 21st November 2008 at a Silver Rocket night supporting Papier Tigre. Please come along – we'd love to see you there. If you're thinking about offering us a gig from here on it's going to have to be something pretty special to tempt us - think The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg, Rumah Sakit and Q and Not U or some such line-up.

On the recorded output front, we have a five track EP which we are self releasing. It will be available at the Silver Rocket show and from then on, on this page. We also have two new songs we plan to record pretty soon (before we forget how to play them!). We think they are pretty special, we can't wait for you to hear them. Any additional unreleased stuff will in time find its way on to our last fm page and will be available for download. Finally, just a reminder that we still have a few copies of the Forest Sleeper 7inch, only a Paypal click away!

On the new music front I think that we will all continue to do 'stuff' - so watch this space. I for one will continue to chase those fleeting moments of beauty, rapture, empathy, community and the affirmation of my huge ego that you can find in making music.

I want to say a massive thank you if you've ever bought a CD or 7inch, put us on (because you actually liked our music), lent us equipment, took the time to listen to us, designed us a flyer or some release artwork, said kind words to us, recorded us (Hannon!) or gave us petrol money - especially where it's come from your own pocket! We've had some amazing experiences as a band, it's been a privilege sharing the stage with so many great musicians and meeting, for the most part, a lot of lovely and interesting people who share our love of music.

Bye for now…

Wow man reading this has moved me to actually log into my mymyspace and for the first time in the Murdoch era post something (I know I couldn't believe it either). I hope this isn't The End and you guys can put your entourages and rock bitches aside for a reunion tour or greatest hits album and then maybe sometime in the future you can reform for a charity gig and find that loving feeling again and dust off the old holey blue jeans and make a new album. But seriously listening to the tunes it does seem a shame and I for one will be sad if it is The End.

Unbelievable - how can this be? I'm fed up of bands playing their last show at Silver Rocket - it's like we're some sort of curse. You will be missed!
