THE POLAR BEAR *demo of the week*
:: India Mill ::
16 April 2007 / Demo / 3 Trk CD
By JA

Darwen's India Mill remind me at times of an earlier version of Moco. Plenty of 60's ideas and punk idealism. The rattling guitars of "My Fury" are completely understated but with the almost crazed scrunched up vocals of Alistair Smith, they're also fantastically violent, madcap and brimming with an urgent energy. "Polar Bear" moves on from the shaking-bone sounds and cuts straight into an overdose of grunge and fat destruction. "GFT" is a cross between the two. A big, sharp edged sound where Smith's vocals provide the missing link between his Mark E namesake and Nirvana. It's this strange connection between alien musical dimensions that marks India Mill as a bright new fresh sound and for once it seems that they're in band that mean it.
