Wow

I am in disbelief. The White Sox have (actually) won the World Series. I thought I had seen it all in the amazing Game 2 with Paul Konerko's Grand Slam and Podsednik's walk off Home Run. The place I was at (Morgan's SportsBar on Halsted near UIC) was going completely bonkers at that win. I think I saw tears in my Dad's eyes.

Then to watch the last out recorded in Game 4 was just unreal. Since I live in McKinley Park (west-ly adjacent to Bridgeport), me and my small army of friends headed down to Lot C of Sox Park to join all the rest of Sox Nation to celebrate in the light rain. If you aren't a Sox fan (or baseball fan), this is prolly a pretty boring post, but for those of us in Sox country it was pure electricity pushing blood through the veins.

For all the negative press/media coverage the Southside gets, its quite nice to see it in the spotlight on the World Stage in a positive light. Sure, some in this city may scoff at the Sox victory or try to belittle it (a certain Sun-Times reporter is coming to mind whose name isn't even worth the pixel print in my blog), but no one can take away the World Championship victory of the 2005 Chicago White Sox. I have the rare luxury of having to experience my team's World Series victory instead of reading about it in a history book and all I can say is 'wow', what a feeling... :)
