We got back to Vancouver last night. I went directly to the grocery store and bought some spinach and broccoli and tofu and beets and quinoa to make a hippie meal out of. Montreal’s effect on Lotus Child is that of a friend in high-school who has just recieved a workable fake id. It takes the leash off of all the meals and extra drinks you would normally hold back from with the tacit justification that, hey, we’re in Montreal. On our last night Tom and I left the party early to go to the late night smoked meat place across from Schwartz’s called Main or Hand, depending. It’s the catchment area for all of Schwartz’s run-off business. We ate meat sandwiches with pickles and coleslaw and poutine and a Cott black-cherry soda each (which was too sweet for Tommy). We basically did Montreal in that meal alone. I’m going to try not to talk about food as much from now on, how about that? -Zach
