Midwest Booty (Kaato)

Deepchild is a producer that has masterfully created his own unique brand of deep, wobbly, soulful and sexy techy house beats. For many years now he has been unleashing this slightly unsanitary brand of filth the world over on labels such as Om, Anabatic, Seinan and most recently; Kaato Music. Kaato Music was founded by Björn Wilke to push the sound that he loves, and is not only a Label, but an Agency and an event lab as well.

The first release from Kaato came in April last year, courtesy of Björn, and the Midwest Booty Ep is number 14 for the label. This release boasts three Deepchild Originals, Cash Money Hoes, Kreuzberg 36 and Midwest Booty. And yes, the tracks are as charming as the titles.

Cash Money Hoes has got a winding, sideways vibe that sends your hips into a somewhat circular, continuous flow of movement. Fuse this with the alluring sound of chimes, Deepchilds signature ‘claps’ and of course, the bassline, and you can’t help but want to move.

Kreuzberg 36 is slightly mellower, but definitely not without its charm. The vocals on this track are used discretely and give it that small amount of ‘fluff’, which in this case, fits swimmingly. The kicks and hats keep it funky and the bass is ever present, making it sound full and dirty.

The highlight of the Ep is the final track Midwest Booty. It flows beautifully; it’s chilled yet dancefloor friendly and the layers and melodies give it an eminently warm feeling. It’s really smooth and has got straight up good vibes about it.

All three tracks are really solid house tunes that hold an air of Deepchild finesse, and it’s nice to know you can count on him to bring some proper wonk to the table.
