Current mood:  accomplished
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

Well here we are again. After that last spat of time off while the company I am working for was busy negotiatin contracts with the Dept. of Rev. I had 7 weeks off work. It was nice because I got TONS of stuff done that I desperately needed to finish. However, at the same time I now have 2 months with only minimal pay.

To make up the difference I just landed a retail holiday night job at the local Circuit City here in Burnsville. So it looks like I'll be working 80-90 hour per week for the next two months since I fly to Manila for 2 weeks and on to Bangkok for 3 more weeks after that right at the start of the new year.

I've also got a series of operations to have done between now and then! So needless to say I'm going to be, *Just a little* busy!!! *Understatement of the Century*

Well now to the topic at hand, last week I was contacted by a career agent that I posted my resume on a long time ago. (Like 2 years ago, just after college graduation)

The job is for a VB software engineer in Benton Harbor MI. As it turns out this is only about 20 miles from where my parents live. So I was like OMG!!!!!!!

To make a long story short I got the interview and dropped the name for my professional website in the phone interview. I should mention that I posted some new example images and example source code on my site that would show off my abilities in VB, so they would see me as a viable candidate for the position. You can see what I posted here:

Needless to say, the agent called me back and said they decided they did not want to do a second interview.....rather they just want to simply fly me straight there for an in-person interview!!! He said, "I think there might be a complement in there some where." So this weekend my parents took a drive up to have a look at the company and review some of the appartments that I found while searching online.

Since then I've perused their website and decided that since the company provides total turn-key industrial consulting service and solutions that it might be a good idea to bring along the really big consulting project example that I did for my database class in college at Minnesota State University of Mankato.

I've been meaning to digitize the documents in that project and report for some time now and the binder has been sitting in the stack of things to digitize, I just haven't gotten around to it. So today I dug the associated image files off my Hard Drive,  packaged them together to post on my site. I will post the project report one of these days, but the images and screenshots should complement the report when I walk in their door. You can find the new images here:

As you can see things are coming along nicely, and I really think this will go a long way towards helping me land this next job. *Crosses other fingers*

Cheers

Seth

P.S. Data backup process is proceeding along smoothly now with the Sony DL_DVD's, I've made significant progress and I'm almost done backing up all the Imagery data now. I expect to finish the rest of it some time in the week.
