I really want to spread the word about this new live music venue in Baltimore.
I started telling friends about it an caught myself retyping the same note so I thought it deserved a BLOG…
The venue is called Bourbon Street and was formerly the relocated Hammerjacks. I checked out the club last night for Christmas party with Never Never. It has the potential to be the best niteclub in the area. The club is divided, club side & concert side. Both have two levels. The second level of the concert side is very reminiscent of the Hammerjacks we knew and LOVED from "back in the day"… It offers a bird's eye view of the large stage and it's own speaker system for sound quality. The rooftop is a outdoor tiki bar and will be a great escape when the weather cooperates!
From the main level, the concert floor is spacious and has several convenient bars for fast service during the show. The elevated stage, superior sound system and large moving light show provides a concert environment. The staff includes seasoned sound engineers, and bartenders including our friend, Jill DeVille.
Before you get intimidated about the downtown address, let me ease your worries by saying it is about a minute from the Power Plant area and has two attended parking lots literally across the street! The Parking fee was $5, only half the Inner Harbor Parking Garage rates. The bar is on a one-way street that points toward Lombard Street and provides the easy getaway when the show is over.
I am happy to say that this will be the Downtown mainstay for The Reagan Years and our first date there will be Saturday, January 24, 2009! For many that have been asking for us to play downtown Baltimore, we hope you go out of your way to attend this show.
If you want to see a TRY show in a concert venue with a little elbowroom, you could bring several friends on January 24 and probably still have a personal experience. Hope you can help us put a crowd in this room and create a cool concert vibe without the wigs, spandex and other parody knock-offs out there. This is a great live venue and deserves to receive some support from local musicians and live music enthusiasts.
Hope you can get the word out about Bourbon Street and the TRY show on Jan 24, 09!
