i just got back from escondido about an hour ago.  it was a long, arduous journey.  actually, it wasn't.  at all.  for me, anyways.  poor Marissa had to drive all the way down, both there and back because my broke ass aint driving yet.  but she took it like a trooper.  all staying in the lines and stuff.

on the way down, we didnt end up listening to any music.  which is absolutely amazing, if you know what i am like.  it will probably never happen again.  also, i got sun burned on my right arm and knee, because of a rip in my jeans.  apparently looking this fly has a price...

anyways, we went down there for two reasons:  awesome concert, and boys club.  i.e. ronnie, casey, and jordane action.  ALL AT ONCE.  we enjoyed ourselves.  and danced.  and at one point, argued about steven segall.  i dont think i spelled his last name right, but he doesnt deserve for me to even check.  seriously, fuck that guy.

aaanyways, the concert was absolutely incredible.  the only things i wasnt content with was the liars short assed set, and the merchandice.  almost everything radiohead related was overpriced, and the only liars stuff they had was one shirt (granted, my favorite one, but they didnt even have it in my size), and a handbag, which i happen to have bought the last one at the time.   go me.  also, they were only selling liars merchandise in one spot, and it was almost hidden.

while looking for this hidden liars treasure trove, they started their set.  i ran all the way across the stadium to get to my seats.  at one point, a security guy cheered at me, and while looking at him, i almost ran into a crowd of people.  it was awesome.

i ended up getting there before their first song ended, and enjoyed the hell out myself.  at one point, angus andrew was talking to the crowd (i cant remember what exactly he was saying), and some dude yelled "nobody cares!" so i responded with "fuck you!".  i'm pretty sure that makes me a "real cool guy".  yeah.  anyways, their set was far too short.  i need to see them headline some day.  ah well.  at least they played The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack.  made my eyes water.  it was that good.

on to radiohead.  this was their set list:

01 15 Step
02 Airbag
03 There There
04 All I Need
05 Nude
06 Talk Show Host
07 Where I End and You Begin
08 Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
09 The Gloaming
10 Faust Arp
11 How to Disappear Completely
12 Reckoner
13 Optimistic
14 Jigsaw Falling Into Place
15 Pyramid Song
16 Climbing Up the Walls
17 Bodysnatchers

Encore 1:

18 House of Cards
19 You and Whose Army?
20 Just
21 Paranoid Android
22 Street Spirit

Encore 2:

23 Videotape
24 Lucky
25 Everything In Its Right Place

absolutely fantastic.  i danced the night away.  they played just about every song that i wanted them to play.  it was incredible.  the set list, the band's energy, the instumentation, and the lights were even fantastic.

also, i'm pretty sure i peed a little when they finished with Everything in its right place.  it was intense.

i still cant decide what my favorite song played was.  i'd have to choose between Airbag, how to disapear completely, optimistic, climbing up the walls, you and whose army, paranoid android, or everything in its right place.

the sound, by the way, was fantastic.  probably the best sounding show i've ever been to.  you could hear every little detail in the music.

i found some pictures that someone closer up than me took.  they're actually quite fantastic.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/29996003@N07/

these being my favorites:

aaaaaand:  someone posted a video already of their preformance of Climbing Up The Walls.

Climbing Up The Wals  Live - 8/27/08 Chula Vista, Ca

also-also, me and ronnie saw a guy wearing an Eddie Money shirt.  i think we can both die happy now.

FUCK YEAH, EDDIE MONEY!!

so all in all, i had a great time.  probably the best long car trip i've experienced, one of the best concerts ever, a mystery box from ronnie and casey (they hid it in the freezer until just before we left), and a pubic hair battle between me and casey.  also, ronnie was a bit of a victim.  sorry ronnie.

i'll post pictures when i get my camera back.  i left in in marissa's car.

You're back already? Wow. Anyway, isn't that drive as boring as hell?! I go down to Long Beach a lot and when you hit those brown hills the only thing you think of is, "Now it's five more hours?" Since you went to San Diego though it's more like, "Now it's seven more hours?" Kudos for not going insane.

i know exactly where you're talking about. i usually get incredibly bored even before that spot, but it just didnt happen on the way down. on the way back, i got a little antsy to get home, but not nearly as bad as i usually get. i kept it cool like a cool kid. or something stupid like that.

I am so jealous!!! I mean I am so jealous that I might go to your house tie you up and force you to listen to the jonas brothers i am so mean I might even throw some madonna in there......

I bet that Johnny Greenwood did some awesome solos and I so want to go to a concert. thats what I would wear to a radiohead concert a Eddie money t-shirt it probably would of been sweeter if it was a Steven Segal one. Yeah when I was in the third grade I had a crush on him (not joking) I was kinda a looser in the third grade ate my buggers and hung arround a kid that peed his pants I was sad.

Anywhoo it sounds like you had fun and cant wait to see your pictures.
