It's hard to believe that after spending ten intense days eating together, sleeping together (no, not like that!), and making music together, we went our separate ways and have not seen each other in almost four months. While some of us have found other musical outlets with each other (Chopped Liver, Jax...), it's always a very different experience with The Syncos.

But with much anticipation we realize that in four short weeks we'll be reunited again for a weekend of fun and musical exploration in Southern California. And we're hoping for a lot of exploration as we return to our roots. And we're not talking Scottish roots, we're talking Synco roots.

Ever since "Rough Around the Edges" was released we've been playing tunes from a well established setlist that we've used extensively since our first days together. These tunes and arrangements were crafted in our first few gigs together and have held together nicely over the years. But the joy of discovery and living on the edge of those first gigs has given way to settling into a nice rhythm with those tunes. And now we feel it's time to shake things up again.

So for those who come out to our California dances, be prepared for a lot of new Syncopath material, created on the fly as we get to know these new tunes. Some of the tunes will be traditional, some will be neo-traditional, while others will be new tunes written by Ryan or Christa. The creative juices will be flowing as we mold these tunes into arrangements that may be on our next CD - whenever it shows up! And don't worry... we'll throw in some of the old favorites, too - but we're really looking forward to seeing what happens when we let loose with the new stuff.
