Hey guys! We're super proud of our ever growing zine collection here at Chielle and we wanted to share with you our new favorite ones. Here's a review of two of Sarah Slater's favorites from this month:
Invincible Summer #11/Clutch #11Two zinesters from Portland come together for their magic eleventh issue.Nicole Georges is the creator of Invincible Summer-hilariously sweet cartoons and stories about her life, work and ideas,as well as her veganism.Nicole's writing style is so warm and friendly that each issue is reads like a letter from an old friend. Most endearing are her perfectly cute depictions of her many adopted animal friends. For this split zine, she and Clutch of Clutch zine (whose comix are pretty cool too) have documented their days together over 2 weeks in May 06.A must read for anyone who likes really cute drawings of dogs!
Cometbus #50Ride the Wohl Whip! The punk-rock classic returns after two years amiss! This time round Aaron Cometbus inlcludes band interviews, his first since giving them up back in issue #24!! Included are his chats with individual members of of TV on the Radio,Jawbreaker,Low,Neurosis,Casual Dots,Party Line,as well as the ubiquitous Ian Mackaye.Great illustration, photography and layout as always and my favorite part is the story on the world of NYC bookstores and sellers.
Stop by and dig through our bevy of new zines!
