Well, let's see we played 7 or so cities and are about to start amping up for the show here in Davenport, Iowa. It's a gorgeous day outside so part of me wishes we were playing outside.

Naturally, we're fine tuning the show as we go, adding bits here and trimming parts there so as to make sure the show is chocked full of energy for the fans who come to see it.

It's strange. We're so used to simply playing music for the full sixty-seventy-five minutes during our shows. Now, we've woven a small narrative (Idea Emergency) into the mix and as a result are getting used to the new pacing that creates. We're always go go go.

Although we're visiting cities, we've not had the pleasure of seeing as much of them as we'd like. It's a mixture of hotel rooms, tour bus and venues. Even so, we got to see historic downtown Paducah, KY last night and ate at this amazing Italian place called DiFratelli Ristorante. Thanks to Dr. Bowers for a wonderful treat while we're working hard on the road.

Smitty was excited to learn that the new International Hockey League team in the Quad Cities area was called the Mallards. We called up to see if we could get a jersey or t-shirt but their store isn't opening until the 24th. Missed it by that much.

Well, I'll sign off for right now and post something soon. Keep keeping tabs and come out and see the show.

LOL @ The Mallards!  Perfect!  Can't wait to see how the show has morphed since February.  I am very psyched that you are playing a medley of new stuff.  It's a shame you don't have more time to sight see...Especially because you have some amazing cities on the tour.  Maybe you can make some mental notes and go back and visit with your family.

Glad to see there's a hockey fan among you (another reason to love Smitty!).  My old hometown of Wheeling, WV (near Pittsburgh, PA) has a great team with the East Coast Hockey League, the Nailers (http://www.wheelingnailers.com)  They'll be out of town when you're in the area, but still they have an awsome logo.  Looking forward to the Huntington, WV show, as always!

Thanks for the update!  Maybe someone locally will get a Jersey on your behalf. ;)  Still disappointed we won't be able to see you in Seattle, but Mickey Mouse has a standing appointment with Michael!  We'll always have Shreveport (dang, been watching WAY to much Casablanca)!

Most importantly, stay safe, have fun and keep rocking!

Glad you guys enjoyed Paducah. Gotta ask my friend there if she saw a giant blue bus being chased by a frantic mouse tooling around town. The Bug is chomping at the bit to know if y'all are really riding around in that bus. Have a good time in Iowa and take care on the rest of the tour! And tell Mover Smitty we agree. The name for the hockey team is just ducky. :-)

I love reading your notes from the road. We really enjoyed your show in Knoxville!
Even more interesting was what you're "Currently reading". I'm an avid reader myself and am always on the lookout for new interesting books. I'd never heard of Henri Nouwen before now...but I did a search on Amazon for his works and found some that look very fascinating. I'm going to have to check them out for myself (I think my mother would enjoy them as well). Thanks for introducing me to a new author!

OMG, the Mallards are SO perfect for him. I know you guys don't get much hockey down there but now he'll have a reason to watch.
We're so stoked about the shows. Only another two weeks. Can't wait to rock out and see you all. Be safe, have fun, and see you soon.
