I'm usually too lazy to write blogs, but I just got home from a killer road trip I wanted to share. First, I drove down to Roanoke, VA for my buddy Joe Hegarty's first tattoo convention. That was a blast and a good party. Joe hooked it up! On the Monday after, I drove to Chattanooga, TN to visit my friends Shane Hartline and his wife Lala, they have a tattoo shop there - Evermore Gallery. We got drunk and hung out there for a couple days, then headed to Atlanta, GA to see Exodus. Had a blast that night! Exodus sound better than ever - they've been killing on this tour! They're friends of mine, and I had planned to ride with them for a few days, so jumped on the bus in Atlanta to ride with them and hang for a few days. Maybe tattoo my buddy Rob, the singer, who I tattooed before. My bro Gary Holt, one of the guitarists, had been talking about getting a tat for a few years, but he's the last person I thought I'd be tattooing on this tour, since he just turned 45 and was still a tattoo virgin. Anyway, he decided he wanted to take the plunge, so I did a freehand demon on his arm. Now he's hooked and wants a bunch more! I know a lot of people who got bit by the tattoo bug - including me - but he got bit like a motherfucker! It's awesome. The next night I tattooed one of the guitarists from Belphegor, one of the other bands on the tour, from Europe. He's a cool fucking dude. Did a little tattoo on Meatball, Exodus's drum tech. Thankfully I brought my guitar - I'm a lefty - 'cause I got up and played Seek And Destroy with them two nights in a row - in Charlotte, North Carolina and Charleston, South Carolina. Lee Altus sat out and I used his rig. What a trip! I've been an Exodus fan since the 80's, so it was a total dream come true for me. Lee's rig sounded killer! For them to let me do that was so fucking cool. I love those guys like family. They're all great people - some of the coolest motherfuckers I ever met. I made friends with a bunch of people on this tour, it was awesome. The guys in Warbringer are awesome! Good people. They're a killer band. Kreator were awesome, as well as Belphegor and Epicurean. The drummer in Kreator is also a tattooer! Lee totally destroyed my liver, night after night. I finally found someone who can out-drink me! He was poring these crazy shots - vodka with hot sauce, coffee and all kinds of shit. I sharpied his arm every night - I'd see him the next day and he'd have this crap on his arm that I didn't remember drawing! Same with John from Warbringer. Lee sharpied my head the last night. Good times!! Sadly, I had to jump off the tour in Jacksonville, Florida. I rode with them longer than I had planned, 9 days I think. I thought about staying on 'till the end. I didn't want to leave, but my liver told me it was time to go. Glad I made it out alive! I rented a car and drove to Atlanta and hung with my bro Tony Olivas for the night. The next day, he drove us to Chattanooga, where my truck was at, and we tore it up one more night. I drove home the next day and just got my first good night's sleep in like two and a half weeks. Anyway, it was one of the best road trips of my life, thanks to my boys Exodus. Keep it metal!
