Belfast band The Vals are proud to announce today that they have just signed a record deal with German label Unique/Electrique Mud records to release ..Yesterday Today' as a single in February 2009 followed by an album with the label in summer 2009.
The band fly to Germany to finalise the deal on 5th December at a party the label is holding in Dusseldorf, with Trio Valore (Damon Minchella ex Weller/OCS, Steve White ex Weller/Style Council) playing on the night.
Unique/Electrique Mud have been following the band for quite a while now and have made an offer they are very happy with and one they simply could not refuse.
Promotion of the first single begins in January 2009 and will be promoted throughout the U.K and Europe through various radio stations.
The single will then be available to purchase on CD, Vinyl and download from mid February and will be accompanied by a spanking new video for the song.
The yet untitled album is at present being recorded in Belfast and will be completed and pressed in Germany for a similar release this summer.
The band are very happy also to announce that the artwork for Yesterday Today is being created by Paul Weller/Ocean Colour Scene/Steve Cradock artist/designer Stefan Duer. Stefan is at present working on Steve Cradock debut album artwork and has recently designed Ocean Colour Scene's Live DVD artwork. To work with Stefan on this project is a massive honour for the band.
Unique/Electrique Mud records is a great label with a range of bands from New York,Madrid,London and more releasing albums and singles. The Vals are very happy to be representing Belfast in this exciting venture for 2009 and hope to spread their music through-out Europe with these releases.
2008 has already been already been a great year for the band with memorable headline shows in Belfast's St George's Market,The Limelight and the Empire along with festival slots as far off as Switzerland and support to Ocean Colour Scene during their most recent tour. This year also seen peace icon and widow of former Beatle John Lennon, Yoko Ono contact the band, and passing on her best wishes for the future.
To celebrate the release's The Vals plan to play some special show's, soon to be announced.
