But I ask this.....If Aaliyah was a alive (REST HER SOUL) would Beyonce be as big as she is? I understand they both have different styles or do they? I ask you the peoples of Myspace let the Doc know....Don't get me wrong Beyonce is hot! I seen her first when she was in the BAY way back when and knew she was going to be BIG...........

See R&B is diffrent, because you have to actually somewhat be able to sing.
Rap is just talk or about ..style.. and hooks and verses nowadays. Its not about the song topic or how the album is. Things change i understand, and hip hop started out with party music so thats not the problem, its just the balance is not there no more. Will smith was able to do party records and deep records story telling records on one album. nowadays you hear an album and all or most of the songz are party records its sad. i believe if your a real mc you would know how to balance it out.

if bruce lee was alive yes he would still be making them flicks. The movies he was already in were big hits.

if Aaliyah was still 'round it'd be real hard to keep her off the top spot! i love me some beyonce but her compitition would be stiff with miss lady still rockin..

and none of these ringtone artist would have shit to say if Pac and Big Pun and them were still here! imagine a song wit kanye and big l for instance. psshhhh. you already know...

just my thoughts.

Peace DPA and all those diggin' on this blog.

With all respect to the artist that passed. I do not believe that any of them would be holding it down the way we would all like to think. Death makes an artist larger than life.

There are artist right now that WERE doing it big and are not so hot right now, that if they would have died during their "hot" moment, we'd all be saying that "if they were here now, alot of the bullshit wouldn't be out now".

For example. KRS-One is doing his thing and basically gets no response from the mainstream or industry now, just basically his hardcore fans. If he would have died in, say the "Return Of The Boom-Bap" era, we would be saying, "if KRS was here now, that Souljah Boy shit would never get through!!!".....BUT....KRS IS HERE and "that Souljah Boy shit" IS getting through and most of the people that would have said the above comment are not supporting KRS now. Same thing with Stevie Wonder or Prince. They are here now and they are very successful and legendary, but they are not gatekeeping the art or shutting anyone down. Yet we would say they would have if they would have passed.

People talk about how Big L would have shut people down if he were here, but where were these people when Big L was tryna get a strong support base before he died? Biggie was getting booed at award shows just before he died but everybody swears that he was on top. "If Left Eye was here, TLC would be knocking these girl groups out the box", but Left Eye WAS here, and Destiny's Child was killin' shit while TLC was making albums that Left Eye said she couldn't stand behind 100%. Also, Aaliyah and Beyonce WERE here at the same time at one point, and Beyonce was winning while Aaliyah was maintaining.

Everyone has their time and their peak. The truth is, these artist would have made some more great music and at times, not so great music. Some would've gotten bigger than they had the chance to before they passed, but then they would've also cooled down while the next big thing grabbed our interest a little more. That's how life is, it's cool. Let's just enjoy the beautiful music that we will see come and go. My advice is, if you want things to change...BUY the CD's of your favorite artist. Record sales are like votes. If enough people vote for an artist, the industry will take notice.

Peace and God Bless You and All of Your Families:)

P.S. We must be realistic. If Bruce Lee was here now, he would be on his way to 70. No. He would not be making the dope Kung-Fu flicks we may think he would've.
