Who Gives Kudos:

Friday, May 29, 2009
Hello friends and fans ~

Wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for taking the time to read this, and for your continued support and interest in my band.

Here is a long-overdue update about the happenings on Planet Tracy ~

I have been asked why I have not been gigging much recently. This has been due to a vocal condition I am recovering from. As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with nodes and polyps on my vocal cords about 8-10 months ago. I have been on a program of vocal rehabilitation for the past 6 months now, and therefore "off the road" for that time. I was actually first diagnosed with vocal nodes about 12 years ago, and advised by Doctors to be completely SILENT for 6 months; I chose however, to continue to sing and tour. Thus I am dealing with the consequences of that decision today. (Unlike some things, it seems that nodes and polyps don't just go away if you ignore them!) That is all I wish to say on the subject, except that I very much appreciate the concern and support my friends, fans and bandmates have had for me during this time. So let me put an end to the rumours and speculation; I have absolutely NOT "quit the Music Biz"! I will be back up to speed and in full swing with my band in the very near future. In fact, we will be playing The Big Easy in Houston on July 11th ~ with more dates to follow. So stay tuned and we'll keep you posted!!

In Other Extremely Exciting News ~ (I know - you can just barely stand it, right??)

I am currently working on a new CD which I hope to release sometime mid-Summer. Hooray!! A new CD!! Finally! The project will consist of original songs that I have been busy writing, and will feature some of Texas' finest Musicians as special guest stars. My long-time friend, and drummer extraordinaire Charlie Fountain provides the backbeat on most of the songs, accompanied by the illustrious Mr. Roscoe Beck (currently on tour with Leonard Cohen, and past alum of Robben Ford, Joni Mitchell, Eric Johnson and the Dixie Chicks to name but a few) on bass.

Not-to-be forgotten, the inimitable Roger Tausz turns in an amazing performance on bass as well, on one of my favorite tracks on the record. I am thrilled to have Malford Milligan singing a "Blues Duet" with me ~ I try to keep up with him as best I can! For Mr. Milligan is truly a gifted vocalist, as those of you know who are familiar with his music. Also featured are Riley Osbourn, who kills on the piano and B3 organ, and Dixie Chicks Guitarist and Musical Director David Grissom, with whom I have co-written. .... (And you just neeeeever know who else might wind up being featured!)

There will be a number of songs on the CD that fans have long requested I put on an album, as well as some very new, very different material. Trippy and fresh, and waaaaaay out there! Don't worry ~ there will be plenty of rhythmic intensity, crank-it-up guitar, and my new-and-improved vocals unleashed over the course of the record. There'll be some Blues, there'll most definitely be some Rock, and there will be some surprises as I stretch out and go kinda wild on that particular brand of Psycho-emotive Soul Ballad that I seem to have such an affinity for! I hope all will like it.

The CD will be available at CDBaby.com when it is released. (You can also get my CD "Retrospective" at CD Baby.) FYI; I know many of you have been trying to get a copy of the "Live! At the Cactus Moon" CD. I am sorry it has been out of print for some time ~ all funds have been commandeered for the making of the new record! I will be re-releasing "Live at the Cactus Moon" in the future, though probably not before the new CD comes out.) I very much appreciate your continued interest in my music, and I thank you for taking the time to read all this prattle, or "Blog" as they call it these days. (HaHa ~ Give your self-indulgent drivel a cutesy name - "Blogging" - and suddenly it's hip!! What a Brave New World we live in!)

Bless you all ~ Be good to each other!

With Love,
Tracy ;-)

Hi Tracy: Sorry to hear about your vocal trouble. Take care of your beautiful voice, it's not funny. I had nodes years ago in Detroit & had to stop talking even for 3 mos. (i was singing so i took up bass & hired a vocalist for my band). Fortunately they healed and I never had trouble again. I'm going to be in Austin in June to seek a gig for SXSW and I'd love to meet you for coffee. What do you say? Love ya, shane.
