Who Gives Kudos:

Saturday, July 04, 2009

Hey everyone, long time no blog (again!!)

I know I've been pretty much off the radar for the past few months aside from the occassional festival or secret show, and I know 've been somewhat neglectful of all things Ruarri Joseph.  I guess I should offer some kind of brief explanation.

A week before Both Sides of The Coin was due to come out, we received the news that my step son, Alfie had to go to Bristol children's hospital to try to remove as much of his brain tumour as possible.  Obviously I dropped everything and went hme to be with my family.  In the weeks leading up to the op, we were blessed with our third child, Harper, an angel sent to brighten up a very stressful and serious time in all our lives.

Alfie remained the most calm and optimistic out of everyone and was an inspiration.  He went in for his op on the 2nd June and thankfully it was a success.  The next two weeks that followed will no doubt stay with us all forever, living in hospital with a handful of clues as to what life was going to be like from then on, and through sheer will power and determination, Alfie charged on through his recovery and continues to do so now.  He's mighty proud of his 59 stiches scar and has vowed to keep his hair short in order to show it off in all it's prime (what a legend!)  I couldn't be prouder of him or the rest of the family for keeping together and staying strong.

As for my musical endeavours, well, having cancelled a bunch of dates and the tour as well as a whole heap of promotional stuff, I kind of feel like I'm no further along the road than before.  I'd been working so hard towards the release that I reckon I was starting to get swept up by it all, and then suddenly was brought back down to earth with an almighty crash, and for that I'm thankful.  Never have I felt so close to those that matter and right now, they are who I need to focus on.

Music won't stop, but I can't see me touring within the next few months unless something crazy happens.  For now I've got a few more festivals as well as some low key local activities in the diary.  No doubt at some point I'll get round to recording some of the material that's brewed inside my head over the last few months and aim to be back on the road once the dust has settled at home.

Thankyou so, so much for all of your support, through messages and turning up to the shows or buying an album, I promise to make up my absence as soon as I can.  For the minute, we're going away for a couple of weeks as a family to clear our heads and take life easy.  Alfie is doing amazingly, Harper is a bundle of joy and Matilda (Baby Finn) is still a princess.  So no worries about the music for now, I'm lucky enough.

See you soon

You and your family's strength is an example to us all. Congratulations on Harper, and I'm glad Alfie's doing well. Take all the time you and your family need - you deserve it for being so awesome!

Love to you all, and I hope you find your way and I hope your future's bright

Hey Ru,
Long time no speak. Hope you're well, absolutely thrilled and relieved to hear that Alfie's doing ok, he's such an awesome little fella. And congratulations to you all about Harper, that's magical news.
Maybe see you play sometime over the holidays,
Laura
