Who Gives Kudos:

Sunday, February 18, 2007
hey, ive never done one of these myspace blogs before, but decided to start one for myself, and anybody who'd be interested in reading it. if i manage to even keep it up, this will be a place to log progress, recent digs, or other thoughts in general.

anyway

i found these records yesterday at Granny's in iowa city...$3 each, anywhere from VG- to VG+....nothing TOO amazing, but still the most decent haul ive had in a while. i need to get out more.

Stardrive - S/T (Elektra Quad) 1973
Freddie Hubbard - Sky Dive (CTI) 1972
Freddie Hubbard - Polar AC (CTI) 1975
The Ripple Blast Singers - Rhythm & Blues hits of 1968 (Power) 1970?
Pigmeat Markham - If you can't be Good, Be Careful! (Chess) 1965
David Newman - Captain Buckles (Cotillion) 1971
Black Heat - Keep on Runnin' (Atlantic) 1975
Reuben Wilson - Love Bug (Blue Note) 1969
Pretty Purdie - Stand By Me (Mega/Flying Dutchman) 1971
Isley Brothers - Live at Yankee Stadium (T Neck) 1969/70?
Kool & the Gang - Love and Understanding (De-Lite) 1976

ive been trying to get most of kool & the gang's earlier (good) records lately, im close but still missing the first three (s/t, best of and live at pj's) if anybody has copies of these for me, lemme know?

also im trying to get Fourth Way - Werewolf for cheap. if you got one, send me a message pal.

thats all for now. peace out

I got that Stardrive record a couple of years ago but it came up missing.
That's one of them jawns you can definitely use for one of your productions.

sky dive isn't necessarily classic material, but it's a good record and that nice bass drop at the beginning of povo has been used a bunch of times with good reason.  it's simple but it has a really nice sound to it.

Even from your earliest digs, you've been a fortunate dude. I wish records like that still showed up on the East Coast.
