Current mood:  frustrated
Everyone thinks that 9-11 was way back in the past. 5 years ago terrorists hijacked two airliners and flew them into the World Trade Centers in New York City,New York. 5 years now what have we done? We totally forgot it. Thats what Americans do. They claim to be hard-core Patriots  when in reality, the only time they hang flags are when something like this happens. Its like a fad. We jump on the bandwagon when it's convienient for us. Its like we just have these little bursts of patriotism when something bad happens to the country and then we settle back into our ruts. How about those people who fly flags every day?  How about those people who pray at night that their loved ones will come home from Iraq? What about those people who lost fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and friends in the Tower Attacks and the war in Iraq. The news showed us the streets of people waving tiny American flags. This number of flags has slowly decreased.  The news moves on with the world, but those men and women are still lost. Those men and women are still over there, fighting for the freedoms that we take for granted. We believe its nothing to be able to choose our own clothes, we think its an outrage when the school systems attempt to assign us uniforms. What if we had no choice? What if Abercrombie & Fitch and Aeropostale and Old Navy and Clarks Wallabys and American Eagle and Mark Eco and M FG and Nike and Levi's and Addidas and Reebok ALL of those brand names didnt exist. There was only one type of shoe, one type of pants, one type of shirt. Thats what other nations have. They dont have the freedom of CHOICE. The most important freedom of all. Take time out of your day to think about those people lost and the people who lost. Thats why Mr. Parker gives us at Bob Jones a moment of silence; to commemorate those who serve, served, and will serve. I ask you to give a simple thought to all those people. Thank you.

That is good...very moving.  It truly puts a perspective on what is really going on.

i totally agree with you. more people do need to take time to pray or whatever they do for the military. it scares me that people easily forget about 9/11 and why we are fighting terrorism. it scares me even more when people dont respect those who are currently serving and those who have sacrificed their lives for this country. i lost a friend that i grew up with in Iraq and i lost a cousin in Afganistan. i'll be damned if i'm going to let what they died for be in vain. there are plenty of people who still have the same patriotism and respect as they did before and after 9/11, you just never hear about them because all the media focuses on are the negative thing and not the positive. You only see protests with celebrities and what not, never all the fundraising that churches and other organizations do to support the troops overseas.

God bless all those who have, are, and will serve this country! Get the job done and come home safe.
