Ok not exactly but POP and I getting along nice and fine as of late and this time it's not of the LA kind, but more interestingly with one of Britan's most successful Male solo acts James Blunt for his latest single "Love love love".
Prior to our shoot someone suggested a rumor that he is one that is appreciative of the female kind, so I was particularly curious of what he'd be like surrounded by cute (and musically-proficient) models adorned in scantily clad outfits bar the occasional piece of vintage Pucci. What I did learn on our day's shoot together is that:
1. James is not the world's biggest lover of cats (especially scared ones). It's not that he doesn't like them- I can see he is trying, but that natual knack for the fluffy kind is not one of his finest talents.
2. Until now, he is also one the most professional artists I have worked with. As soon as the playback is running you've got him nailing his synch each time without fail with that famous sincerity that proves accessible at just the sound of the simple word of "Action".
3. Despite the silly suggestions I was given earlier, Mr. Blunt was a sweet, polite gentleman with a very chilled sensibility and charming sense of humor that found his company delightfully tickled between takes and during the performances.
It was shot last month in Black Island Studios with intention to give him a fresh look and lighten up the dark lyrics to the upbeat sounds of the single. Originally it was pitched sans the TV-show type introduction however it was felt needed by the label and thus was made by fellow Partizan director Ollie Evans whilst I was unavailable shooting another video that week. I'm attaching some LOVEly behind the scenes photographs taken by the amazing James D Kelly and a credit list of who was involved.
