Hello
you all, as
you might have guessed, the new album is finished! It’s called Daydream and has
11 songs on it. Svante Forsbäck did an
amazing job on the mastering, he’s got golden ears and gear. Jenni Rope is
doing the artwork and it looks very very cool and different from the previous
albums.
The
first single will be out soon (at least for radio stations) and it seems that it’s
going to be a song called Rude Awakening. It’s pretty weird and we like it, it
almost sounds a bit frightening.
Originally the album was supposed to come out on 30th September, but now it's pushed back to 11th of November, so you'll just have to wait a little longer. Overall,
I think we’re pretty satisfied with how the album turned out to be. This time
it didn’t take too long, this one was only about 1½ year in the making, which is
super fast in daisy standards.
After
the monster theme album that It’s About Time was this time I think we wanted do
sort of a simpler, straight forward pop album. Again, the songs are somewhat
varied from each other but there is at least some kind of coherency between the
tracks, this being the result of the relatively short time in which the album
was arranged and recorded in.
This
album was also a bit different than the previous ones ‘cause we basically did
it all on our own, just the five of us with not much spiritual guidance or
anything else outside the band. Maybe it’s that Daisy is finally coming of age!
After
and before the album is released there’s obviously gonna be some gigs lined up.
The last gig we did was almost a year ago, the support slot for Supergrass,
which meant a lot for the band, we all being big Supergrass fans. I think it’s
probably only band besides the Beatles we all
genuinely like.
As
for the changes, I won’t be part of the Daisy live line-up from now on. I’ve
felt weird about gigging for some time now and it’s been really hard for me the
get into it lately. Having this sort of an all or nothing personality, it seems
I just can’t keep on doing things that I’m not into 100 %.
The
other guys would probably have wanted to gig more in the past too and I think
this has led to some unnecessary friction within the band concerning our
somewhat different motives and my quite of a strong way to express my feelings.
For me it’s basically all been about songwriting, arranging and recording
stuff, so maybe one could say my motives are not in the performance side of the
picture. I love playing and singing with the guys and coming up with new stuff
and the interaction, but for me I’m basically happier doing it in the confines
of our training space than any other way.
This
change was already talked about around 1½ years ago but it came to nothing
then. Now we’ve finally reached a solution that everybody is happy about. We’ve
got a new album to take on the road and more songs to choose from for the live
set. It’s also easier for the guys to play the new songs without me, ‘cause it’s
been so long we last played them live before starting recording. We’ve always
had to adapt our live arrangements from the studio version, ‘cause there’s so
much going on in the songs. Right now it seems at least the first couple of
gigs will be carried out as four piece, but maybe later a gig guitarist/singer
will be added to the line up although it’s been sounding pretty good and
powerful as a four piece when the guys have practiced, so maybe the guys will
just do it on their own, who knows at this point!
We’re
still going to keep on working as usual outside the live gigs and plan on
writing and recording new songs in the future, so we’ll definitely keep on
keepin’ on! Basically nothing else changes except now I have more energy to put
into songwriting again and the guys can keep rocking live as much as they
please, everybody wins.
Ok,
this should do for now. Take care and we hope you like and buy the new album!
