Current mood:  hopeful

hiya...

just wanted to say thankyou soooooo much to everyone who made it down to NSC on tuesday night to hear us play the goodbye girl... the crowd was great and really nice... I gotta admit I haven't been enjoying shows for a while now but I had a great time on tuesday... having dan back playing with us made me happier than I've been in a long time. So I guess if any of you are around please come along again this tuesday to hear Main St... this whole process of playing the old albums from start to finish has been really sentimental for me... I can remember falling in love when we were writing goodbye girl... just like I can remember it ending as we were rolling out main st... been living through it all again playing those songs... its funny how those albums will always represent very specific moments in time for me... hopefully it does for some of you as well... if they do it'd be nice to hear what was going on in your lives when they came out... feel free to share.

hope to see ya tuesday

juan x.

Just wondering if you guys are recording these shows? It'd be great to hear these songs again :)
Would be great to be there if I could... never can find a good genie when you need a wish can you?

Really wanted to make it to the first show but life was hectic!
I'll be there next week, and I'm dragging my Mum down from Ballarat too!
Glad you're enjoying preforming. No doubt I shall enjoy being audience to it.
My memories of goodbye girl was that I was in love.. though it was kind of a self destructive relationship. So I related a lot to it.
Absolutely adored that album. x

Juan,

I picked up the Goodbye Girl from a recommendation of a mate of mine (he used to play you songs at bbq's in Perth). Anyway I left a girl in Perth and travelled to London. This album was exactly how I was feeling for so many months while I was away. 12 Months Of Winter particularly...and how appropriate given I was in London.

The album inspired me to pursue my own music and to write exactly how I feel - not what others want to hear.

I loved hearing it the other night for the first time live. Thanks

Dave

Mate I wish I could've seen you guys play on tuesday. Unfortunately being in Newcastle it was a little bit impossible. That album for me holds so many sad but also somehow uplifting memories for me.

Please come to Newcastle sometime soon!

Hey Juan,

I loved listeining to the Goodbye Girl live and kind of being able to take that journey with you... so thank you so much...It's really beautiful to see someone really connect with their music in such an emotional way as you do... Postcards last night was AMAZING!! I loved hearing some of the songs for the first time like When the Hurricane Blows Through and Sick Hearts parade... Your vocals were sublime as always...
Like I said last night there are so many people out there who appreciate everything you do and what your music does for them personally... keep writing beautiful songs and we will continue to listen and support you... hey for your happy song you could write about these shows somehow because I could tell that you guys were having a ball!!  The crowd was also way better then Warrnambool and it is what you guys deserve for all the work that you do!

Much love, peace and respect Juan - believe in yourself mate and you will succeed in everthing you do.  We all believe in you.

Rachel

Hearing about the nsc shows only makes me jealous and ask real nice could you please come back to Central coast/ Newcastle  as I am having live epicure withdrawals.

Goodbye Girl...the joys of discovering your favourite band....falling in complicated and blissful love with a boy from Ballarat, and finding out he used to go see you play...and here we are still riding the roller coaster of love, now theres four of us, never a dull day.

hey,

Quick question?  I seem to have forgotton the name of the band who wrote the song (I think it was bluestone, sorry my memory fails me) that you sang last night?  Iwould really like to check out some of their music.

Cheers,

Rachel

What an awesome thing to play your albums in full... I only missed one (alas - Main Street)!

Talk about stepping back in time - the memories from the years I was listening to those songs, not to mention the concept of listening to the album in full, start to finish, the way it was intended. Were you worried at all that the art-form would be lost to your listeners/audience? I think probably not, judging by the way everyone seemed to hang on every note at the shows...

Thanks so much for making it such an interesting listening experience!

x Susie

hey Susie... yeah I wasn't sure how the start to finish thing would go but I think it worked out really well... I guess people knew what they going to hear next which was cool, and so many of those songs we haven't played live for ages... if ever! thanks heaps for coming along to the shows... we really enjoyed those shows, and mainly cos' the audience was so responsive... it really was our pleasure! cheers, juan.
