Important Announcement from The 303 Collective

After nearly four years of producing independent theatre and visual arts events, The 303 Collective reluctantly announces that they will be leaving their home at 303 Adams in Old Town Saginaw. The owners of the building have decided to use the space as a commercial property and have asked the group of artists to move out midway through what had been planned as their 2007 season that was announced only days ago.

The arts center, dubbed by The Saginaw News as a "warehouse with attitude," saw the production of nine plays (three of which earned Top 10 Arts Events of the Year honors), six art exhibits, and a host of free movie screenings, readings, book release parties, and concerts; as well as providing studio space for dozens of artists of a wide variety of genres.

Although the Old Town site has been in many ways the heart of The 303 Collective, the organization is not tied to that or any building for its existence. The collective is a working group of artists, not a particular piece of real estate. All of the group's members will remain active in their particular fields and hope to continue producing, albeit intermittently, the caliber of progressive, issue-driven art that The 303 Collective has become known for.

In the meantime, events will continue as planned until the move-out date. This will include the production of Paula Vogel's Obie Award-winning play The Baltimore Waltz, May 31 through June 3; and "The Renegade Bed Race & Box Spring Outdoor Music Festival" on June 9.

The 303 Collective would like to thank everyone who over the years has helped make their events successful: the artists who participated, the audiences who attended, the sponsors who donated, the media personnel who promoted, and the countless others who believe that original, independent art is vital to the existence of a community. They would also like to thank their landlord for providing a space for as long as he was able.

I really hope y'all can find a new space... The plays you had planned I was really looking forward to. Also, Saginaw looses a big chunk of it's luster for me without the 303 and I don't know if I even want to live there now.... honestly.
