I don’t really blog like this but felt the need to on this occasion.
I was involved in a car accident in New York last week. I was in town to DJ.
The whole experience has been pretty surreal for me, as I have no memory of the actual incident. (Which in a way, I'm quite pleased about!) Immediately after the crash, the people I was with in the car thought I was dead. They said my body was twisted up, my eyes were open, there were no signs of life and I had blood coming out my mouth. Then I started convulsing. So an unpleasant image for them, to say the least which I’m really sorry they had to experience. (I realise this must all be pretty gruesome to read, sorry!)
My memories start in pain in the ER with a neck brace on and doctors telling me I’m being assessed for head trauma and need treatment. It’s all quite blurry.
I’m told the car I was in, was hit by a taxi that had run a red light whilst making an illegal turn. The taxi tried to make a run for it too and he even had a customer in the back.
I’ve been in hospital having every test under the sun, CAT scans, X-rays etc but I’m out and doing fine now. Just need time to heal and recover. The car I was in is crushed like a can and really it’s a miracle no one was more seriously hurt. Everybody is OK.
The whole experience has been a crazy shock not just for me but my close people too and I’m lucky and happy to be alive and writing to you now.
I just want to say thank you to all you sweet people who have reached out to me with concern and well wishes. I HAVE MAD LOVE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!! And to whoever was watching over me and allowed me to escape that situation with my life… I’m still absorbing all that.
So stay safe people and don’t take time for granted! Appreciate what you’ve got because right now I could be paralysed or even worse, you feel me?
Lots of love Sarah x
