I am no way attempting to speak for the rest of Buffalo comics, but I just sent this email, and I suggest we all come up with something similar and do the same...these things matter in exposure and in order for our dear little jokes to be taken seriously
my email reads as follows:
I was just wondering if Artvoice ever plans on including comedians in its Best Of Buffalo yearly poll. In the past year, there has been a growth spurt in the comedy scene here in town with numerous local comics making a name for themselves, locally as well as nationally. The weekly open mic at Nietzsche's is about to celebrate a one year anniversary, a small feat, but a feat nonetheless, in a city that struggles to get comedy to catch on, at least downtown. In addition, local comics have produced national tours, two, to be exact in the last year. Which shows that the comics in Buffalo are not only talented performers, but are proactive in noticing the shift in the industry, and taking advantage of the DYI approach so prevalent in Buffalo. It's very difficult to build something, in this case a comedy scene, when local press doesn't even ackowledge that there are comedians in town. I ask for your consideration in this matter before the comics with the goods get the "I can't make it in Buffalo mentality and more of our talent pool shuffles of to Chicago, Ny or LA, where theire talent will, at the very least, accepted as a talent.
Thanks

feel free to do the same, let's try to get a little support for what we do!
