Jimmy Evans is an adolecent boy like most his age. However, as far back as he can remember, his friends have always called him James. As a younger child he struggled with few things. He has always been a bright young man with a prominant future, coming from a prominant family. His father is a doctor, his mother being a nurse practitioner. Needless to say, this has brought on some undeserved dislike from some of his peers, but he is still liked overall. As a freshman in high school, he enjoys flirting with girls, hanging out with friends, and during the fall season, he is a line-backer for the junior varsity football team. At 5'11" and 185lbs of pure testosterone this works as a perfect outlet for his teenage angst, seeing as all other aspects of his life are seemingly perfect. With aspirations of greatness in his future, he plans on using football not only as the hormonal release, but also as a stepping stone into Texas A&M, where he can get his degree and start his life off right. We come to Jimmy on the day of his 'awakening' as some would call it, or even his 'coming of age'.
-------
The final bell rings, signalling the end of today's lessons. The halls fill with rejoiceing teens. Through the cluster of bodies, Jimmy or 'James' is seen walking from his locker to the dressing room to get ready for practice. Trailing behind him is his friend Tarrence. More or less a lacky, Tarrence has been close friends with James as long as he can remember, carrying his books, helping him with his homework, and even being his wrestling dummy.
"So whatcha doin' after practice?" asked Tarrence.
"Not sure, might go down to orchard for a bit, maybe even call Jessica to join me. Who knows."
"Well, if you want, we could go see what the guys are up to at the shop. I hear they just got in the new issue of 'Origins'. Maybe we could check it out, ya know."
"I would, but you have to think of me here. I don't wanna leave practice to go hang out with a bunch of nerds in a comic book store. Especially when I could be snuggled up with one of the hottest girls in the school, surrounded by nothing but orange groves, ya know?"
With this, they said their goodbyes and James went off to change for practice. During this, he sends Jessica a text saying, "Wanna meet me at the orchard after practice? I have a surprise for you. ;)". Which she replies to while he is still in practice, accepting the invite. Little do either of them know that their plan will come to fruition earlier than expected.
It's about an hour into practice now. All the kids have been pushed to their limits. Exhausted, they finally get their 2nd water break of the practice. There are minor grumbles of dissent amoung the teamates, but nothing that screams rebellion. A whistle blows, telling the boys that water break is over and it's time to get back into formation. With the J.V. split into to halves, the offensive and defensive line, they are running a particular drill where the wide reciever has to complete a button hook to take it in for a touchdown. Jimmy's job is to keep the reciever from catching the ball to complete the play. Quarter back calls the hike, Jimmy is keyed in on his target, the ball is released. Jimmy misses the tackle and falls in a heap just shy of reaching the reciever. The pass is completed and the offense scores.
This is something that can happen to anyone, especially an overworked freshman line-backer in the middle of practice. However, the coach is relentless.
"What's the problem boy?!" the coach screams. "Got lead in your feet?!"
"No, sir! Just lost my footing." James replies without hesitation.
"And why is that boy? You too stupid to put one foot in front of the other? Is that it,
boy?"
"No, sir! I don't know what happened, sir, but it won't happen again!"
"You're damn right it won't happen again! Why don't you go sit the next few plays out, if we need a snivleing retard to fuck up our plays we'll call you in. Better yet, if you aren't plannin' on doing anything productive this session why don't you just get the hell off my field!"
"I'm sorry, sir! But I promise it won't happen again, sir!"
"You must be some kind of stupid they don't even have a name for yet! I said get the the hell off my field, end of discussion!"
At this point, something happened. Nobody talks to Jimmy like this, let alone this pissant who can barely manage to keep his family afloat on his meager 32k/year salary. This person is the now responsible for jeopardizing his entire future. Thanks to this worthless sack of water, skin, and bones, his life after high school might never happen. Without football, there can be no Texas A&M. Without Texax A&M, there can be no future as a successful person.
Finally, Jimmy snaps, and his instincts take over. In a haze of light, and light blue aura flares around him. He jerks toward the coach, staring him dead in the eyes. The coaches face turns beet red with anger and fear and isn't sure if he should flee or be the agressor and put this kid in his place. In that moment of hesitation Jimmy clinches his outstreched hand into a fist and quickly brings it back to his chest. Almost instantly, the liquids in the coaches body removed themselves from him as if commanded to do so by this seemingly normal boy. Without these liquids in his body, the cellular membranes cannot function correctly in a proccess called osmosis. Without being able to maintain their structural integrity or function, the cells broke down, causing his body to revert to its most basic composition. In essence, the coach disappeared into a cloud of dust, mostly combrised of iron, bone fragment, and calcium. The wrenched liquids, quickly falling to the ground where it was then absorbed to continue the cycle of life.
Now, a scene like this isn't likely to go unnoticed, nor did it. The entire Junior Varsity team saw what happened and hung where they were in a moment of terror and awe at this newly formed development. With screams of terror, and the moment ended, the kids try to flee. Fear and discust run through Jimmy, he can't be inctiminated in any way for this murder. To be suspected in this murder would cause him to lose everything he's ever worked for. Again, he reals on his teamates and with less intensity reaches a similar effect. After pulling his outstretched hand back to his chest as a fist, all of the boys collapse with an advanced case of rapid dehydration, causeing them to go into cardiac arrest, and expire shortly after.
An hour later, parents who were arriving to pick up their children, find a horrifying scene of lifeless bodies. Moments later the police arrive to inspect the crime scene. All Junior Varsity members are accounted for, asside for the coach and a young Mr. Jimmy "James" Evans. The record shows that Jimmy arrived home late from practice at 7:23pm, in civilian clothes. Apparently, Jimmy left practice an hour early to relax in a nearby orchard. This story is validated by not only by the requisitioned text log from his cell phone carrier, but also a young cheerleader named Jessica Rentos. The reason for Jimmy's early departure from practice was recorded as, "The coach was pushing us harder than ever and I just wasn't fealing well. My throat was too dry, my heart was racing, and I thought I was going to stroke out if I didn't go lay down." Primary suspect of the murders is the Coach, for forcing the students to practice in conditions that did not meet that Public School Standards, thusly causeing the children to suffer from rapid dehydration and ultimately made them to go into cardiac arrest and parish as they ran for liquid nurishment. It is assumed that shortly after this, the coach fled the scene of the crime. Investigation into this matter is ongoing until he is found and arrested.
