Current mood: confused
Hello to any bodies: Ok.
The last show I played was November 28 at GOMA making a live music score for the German Expressionist film "Variete". The whole crux of the score revolved around a $3 Casio keyboard (I found on an op shop search in Bundaberg - my old home town), my epiphone guitar, effects pedals, (memory man and trusty old DD3) and glockenspiel...no vocals.
I am a bit old school and don't like Headrush or other loop pedals...I think they make you too dependent..they almost become like a backing track. (But some of you might like to disagree).
The show was an eventful one taking up almost one and a half hours. Shortly before the conclusion of the film, a man called Chris happened to have an epileptic fit during the climax of the film. Luckily, the lovely McKisko and friend were able to sit with the man, while Heinz and GOMA arranged an ambulance.
So 3 minutes before the end, the film was stopped short of completion, so all the folk who were there still don't know what happened. I hope you managed to work it out.
Thankfully the man returned for more German Expressionist Films the following day.
It was a crazy session and it took me a few days to get over the idea I might have been responsible (along with the intensive visual during that part of the film) for his fit. But I got there.
I've been meaning to write it down for a little while, but there has been a bit too much stuff happening on the home front.
So to tie it all in together, I have uploaded a demo I did on the Casio keyboard and garageband, called "Maybe it's me up there" and is kinda an adaptation to the melody used in the film score. It's not very good but makes me feel happy to hear it. It needs major readjustment.
My aim to is to make a little ep of tunes on the keyboard. IT is the same type I used in my childhood and makes me feel like a little kid again.
In other news, the nice people at the Zoo have allowed me to be part of the support for Evan Dando. As some of you may know, Evan is one of my favourite all time songwriters. I am very happy that I will have the chance to get to see him play again. I can't wait to see what happens...it's always an adventure and that's why I love seeing him. You just don't know what will happen.
Love to all and give your loved ones a massive sign that you love them.
