thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out on saturday, everyone who helped out (including our rockstar doorstaff) and everyone who played.
this was one of the most stressful we've ever done before the gig, but was also one of the most enjoyable once the bands got going. redword's sound is very striking and like nothing i've ever heard before. ex wives are amongst the loudest and most enthusiastic of all the acts we've booked. pappygold's sound has come a million miles since the first time i heard him, and i liked him then. that was his first ever gig and i loved it. only a year has passed since then and this was still only his third gig. imagine how good he'll be by the fourth and fifth!
next month's gig will be something special as it's our first birthday. anyone who came out in may will have a slight idea of what to expect, when most of the dc staff had their birthday within a few days of the gig. there will again be cake. lots of cake. if billy has his way, there will also be lots of swedishness.
anyone who knows billy will wonder why it took him so long to book a swedish band, but that's exactly what we've done for our birthday celebrations. jlang jlang will be playing their first gig on these shores. this is particularly fitting as christina of jlang jlang was our first ever guest dj at our launch last july.
This will also mark the drive carefully debut of ceylan delikanli although she is playing go-ra-ga at the halt bar on june 26th first (did i mention it's free and the hector collectors are also playing?) and has made a few appearances on t'door at the note.
we'll also have the tempus fugitives, whose bandleader, adam byrne, featured on our first sampler, glasgow welcomes careful drivers. you see, it all ties in.
thanks again,
stoo
