Listen, this is an old, old blog. But some of you always receive "new blog" alerts whenever I edit these things. So, all I have done here is emphasize the "we broke up" meaning of the subject line in hope that people will not ask me when ILCK plans to play again, which in turn makes me reply, depressed, "No. Won't. We broke up." And more so, in hope that people will check out below the new great things all the X-Killers are doing beyond the post-ILCK apocalypse. We're like a virus. Spreading.
----------------------------------------------
Hello everyone,

Just want to let you know that ILCK3 for all intents and purposes decided to quit last January 2006. Here is what everyone from all the generations of ILCK are doing now-

J.R. Collins (aka Toko the Drifter, The Token One, JRR Token, etc) plays drums and sang on ILCKII's LOVE IS A CHARM OF POWERFUL TROUBLE and LOVE UNBOLTS THE DARK and ILCKIII's THESE BONES WILL RISE TO LOVE YOU AGAIN. The Token One has been showing his paintings around the world. If you happen to be in Austin, Texas, some of his pieces are hung inside Emos rock club. JR has also been working on his fantastic solo album and touring throughout Europe with indie-songster JOSE GONZALEZ. http://www.myspace.com/4jrcollins.

Chetley Weise (aka the Cheetah) plays guitar and sang on all the damn records. Recently, Chet has been playing with himself for a few shows here and there as Sweet Velvet C. The Velvet managed to tour Australia and cancel the UK. Mostly, the Velvet has been learning to read and write at Middle Tennessee State University. Go Blue Raiders! Both JR and Chet played on the ELDORADO AND THE RUCKUS record PlANET OF THE VAMPIRES II. The RUCKUS has a new record coming out soon with a real band, meaning they got folks other than Chet and JR. The new RUCKUS record is going to be great http://www.myspace.com/eldorado. 2005 Chet played rock consultant/producer for Australia's fabulous VEGAS KINGS. Their record has just been released on MERE NOISE records and is destined to make everyone involved ecstatic. http://www.myspace.com/vegaskings. As of September 2007, Chet joined with Craig "Sweet Dawg" Pickering (Dexateens, Paul Wine Jones, T-Model Ford) to form the Silver Lion's 20/20. The Lions have recorded and plan to tour and release some records.

John Wesley Myers played organ and sang in the last touring incarnation of ILCK, ergo, ILCK3.1 Panther Touring OS. John did a shit-load of live work with the band and made ILCK3.1 sound amazing. ILCK owes it to John to record something with him someday. Nonetheless, John fronts his own fantabulous band called the Black Diamond Heavies. The Heavies are an organ/drum duo who will be touring soon in support of their new release from ALIVE Records. John likes to hang-glide. http://www.myspace.com/blackdiamondheavies

Jeff Goodwin plays organ and sang on ILCKIII's THESE BONES WILL RISE TO LOVE YOU AGAIN. The band could only fool Jeff for so long before he had to get a real paying gig. Jeff and his wife, Jessi, are rehabbing a house, and both have art on display at the Plowhaus Art Collective in Nashville, Tennessee (TN) http://www.plowhaus.org/news.htm. Jeff put on his doctor's smock again to play with MAN OR ASTROMAN? during their reunion September 06. Recently, Jeff and his wife Jessi made a BEAUTIFUL baby boy named Elliot. Elliot is destined to hang with Abigail Claire (see below). Lawdy.

Last but certainly not least comes the O.G. original gangster Doug "the Boss" Sherrard. Doug plays drums but did not sing on ILCK's first record, THE ESSENTIAL FUCKED UP BLUES, and the semi-bootleg MORE FUCKED UP BLUES. Doug worked at United Record Pressing in Nashville, TN for a spell post-ILCK1. United is one of the few factories in the world where vinyl records of all sizes and colors are still pressed. Doug also playED marching snare for a spectacular old string band called THE RUTHERFORD COUNTY STUMBLERS and has very recently made a BEAUTIFUL baby, Abigail Claire, with his wife, Stacy. http://www.myspace.com/dougsherrard

You can get in touch with most of these folks/bands someway via ILCK's MY SPACE top twenty.

Take care,
Chet

Guys, this latest news sucks.First of all, thanks for all the great music. We played with yers at Cafe Nine in New Haven, I guess about a year ago. We were fans before we met you, and fans after. It's not right that Rock 'n' Roll is being ignored so completely as it is now. I have a copy of the John Peel show you guys did, and I will always regard this recording with the highest respect and admiration. It's real. It's Rock 'n' Roll. Best wishes.-Dewey

I know I'm a bit late (just got round to checking out this myspace site - I'm kinda new to myspace) in  mourning the loss of the amazing force in blues and rock that was the ILCK - good to hear you're still doing things, and occasional reunions can still happen.

I thought I'd add my ten cents worth to the live Peel show comment - here's a link to a page from a defunct website (meaning I stopped updating it, but never got round to shutting it down - hey, I don't even own a computer, gimme a break!) which I did for the Grease Monkeys when I was still a member.  It features the BBC's pictures of the ILCK live Peel session which I stole from the official Peel page - the link used to take you to that page on Peel's site, and the photos were still there for a good while afterwards - even some time after 'Brother John' sadly left us.

I'm still proud of my involvement, however peripheral, in that session and I have great memories of the ILCK shows where we were privileged to be opening act.

Good luck with the literacy course, Chet!

Well, instead of asking when ILCK will come around again, I will pose the question: when do you, my dear Sweet Velvet C, plan to come around again, to sweet ol' London-town, if at all? It would be great to share a beverage with you and check out the stuff you're playing these days.
