We had a ton of people email about "How did you figure out the whole 'Tsunami's coming!' text message thing?"
There are a few sites that will automatically email/text you if there is a large earthquake anywhere in the Pacific.
You also have to know how to get your cellphone provider to email you. For instance, if you have Edge Wireless, you tell the alert service that your email address is (10digitphonenumber)@sms.edgewireless.com. Or, if you have Verizon, it's (10digitphonenumber)@vtext.com. And so forth.
Anyway.
Here're two ways to achieve the goal.

PS- The city of Eureka (and outlying areas) has reverse calling, sort of like 911 calling you in case of an emergency. City of Eureka's website has this link to sign up:
