I am a huge fan of Ayn Rand. She once said "The question isn't 'who is going to let me'; it's 'who is going to stop me'." One of the saddest lines in the world is, 'Oh come now - be realistic.' The best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were realistic. They were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and gave them horses to ride. Dick Bolles said that.

People have told all of us that our dreams were unrealisitic. Many of us have even told ourselves that. We said oh I don't have time, or I could never do that, I just have too much stuff to do. We can do anything we put our minds to.

I want to know what is your dream? What is the one thing that you wanted to be? Are you living your life's dream?

This is really encouraging. I agree with what you wrote here. I have lots of dreams, and I'm thankful that I'm still able to work at seeing them come true. I'm still keeping the faith and keeping on. I think we should all encourage each other to do the same.
Time waits for no one!

Great words L. I always wanted to be an artist. Luckily, I went against the "realistics" in my childhood & pursued it. Even though I'm in my field, I'd like to do more with it on top of other things.
(still would like to publish an urban magazine)

Anything you set your mind to IS possible. 10 years ago, I deceided to go to college to get a degree. I work full time. My daughter was still at home. My hubby is a trucker, so all the house responsibilities fell on me. I went to classes at night. Kept up my home and made it to work everyday. I was tired To be honest, I was tired most of the time. But I did it. I graduated last May with honors. It took me 10 years, but I did it. It would have been 8 1/2 years, but I took a year and a semester off. I burnt out and had to regroup myself. So, for all you people out there that has a dream, go for it. Anything is possible. Don't let people say you can't do it. Show them they are wrong. Now, I'm working on the American dream, owning my own home. I'm tired of renting from the foreigners that come here and are given interest free loans. There is a blog that will get a lot of feedback!

Ayn Rand is awesome! My 9th graders read "Anthem" this year.

My dream was to have an impact on the youth. I thought my dream was to become a social worker, but God took me in another direction and I became a Special Education teacher. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life, besides being a mother. I'll never make 6 figures, but when I see a kid graduate high school when all the odds were stacked against him, the money means nothing.

My school just eliminated a bunch of positions, mine included, so now I have to look for a new district for next year, but I know my dream isn't over.....I still have many lives to touch....maybe this time in NYC.

why look for a new district? Why not start your own organization, be a moving force in more children's lives? You can make 6 figures and more if you put your mind to it and doi ng what you love.

That's true, and I'd love to do that, but it takes money to start your own organization, and I don't have any right now.

I think its funny that you post this and here I am at the studio, writing, working on vocals and what not. I can never say I had a specific dream..It was a singer, then it's being a great writer..everything revolved around music. whether I was sitting interviewing Common or recording it felt one step closer to what I could best describe as my dream: reaching further than my imagination. this was a very encouraging post Blogxilla :) {I've been quite discouraged, now I learning better}...mass media domination seems like a fitting agenda for me tho' lol
hope to run into you one day aka see you at the top
