I am right in the middle of producing Guitar Shorty for Alligator records,... we're having a cool ass time,.... trying different guitar FX and switching amps for new tones,.... the songs are great,... the basics were cut with Rickey Rouse, Harold Seay, Alex Alexandronni, Spacey T., Alvino Bennet and Tadashi,... at Tadashi's home studio in Venice,... he has the coolest gear,... and space,... we're back at my place to finish the vocals and guitar work,... editing , tracking and 6 or 7 other hats I wear,.. they all fit,...  Shorty was telling me about some tips he got from Ray Charles,... this cat played with Ray, Sam Cooke etc,..and been doing his own thing since forever,... Hendrix used to come and watch him play before he went to the service,... Shorty lived in Seattle ,.. he was also married to Jimi's cousin,.... It's easy working with him,.... we get along pretty well,... he reminds me of my oldest brother, Frank,...the guy that got me started,.... he got me on my first tour,...with Jackie Wilson,... I was 13 years old,... and pulled it off,... how cool is that,...
