okay, so I said I wouldn't be writing blogs, but something important has come up. It is a case of the charlatans versus science.

I can only say that I know Simon is not some sensationalist journalist but a highly intelligent man and an excellent science writer and physicist. If the BCA win this case it is another victory for those determined to retreat into an age of anti-science and superstition.

Poor Simon Singh, it's an outrageous judgement. Still, why would such a clever judge need to refer to a dictionary?
Group duly joined (when facebook stops being silly with my password).

It's backward, it doesn't seem to leave much more for a fight either.

Hey ho, what do we need silly old freedom of speech for anyway? Why allow an eminent mathematician to hold an opinion on the validity of spurious medical claims by a professional body (which they don't seem to be defending, interestingly)? I don't understand what's going through the judges mind, if I was a cynic I'd think he was related to a chiropractor or two but luckily judges are too objective for such bias.

Glad to hear you're keeping up the blog.

Blogs suggesting that superstition is wrong only seem convincing because the people who wrote them were wearing special lucky pants at the time.

Every single dealing I've had with the judicial system through work seems to rule against common sense, so I'm not in the least surprised, but it is depressing. It seems that points of law can ultimately override what seems logical and sensible to everyone else. The fact that he'd made up his mind before coming into the room just shows what a farce it is.

I was only joking about cutting your foot off and making it into a keyring and having it as my lucky rabbits foot. I'm going to pass on clicking on your link at present as you keep making me inflamed about things...I may have to have a drink first.

Well he can't settle can he, he's going to have to appeal and also ask for an apology if he has documentary proof that the aliments treated cannot in fact be treated (which they blatantly can't if you simply think about it logically, unless in some cases the ailments are linked to the nervous system and therefore linked to the spinal cord), so he's going to have to fight isn't he.
On a different note, did you know that you can practice Hypnotherapy with no understanding of psychology or how the brain and subconscious works...now that's really bad. (if anyone would like to see me in court due to that statement of fact, i'm not bothered, see you there)
