http://www.myspace.com/valenteen - mentioned to much smitten joy in previous dispatches, we heartily recommend that you redirect your mouse type thing in the general direction of Valenteen’s my space site and fall longingly into the haunting folds of the handful of live ‘bootlegs’ that she’s just posted all culled from a recent appearance at London’s Luminaire. These spectral twinkles burn and resonate with an unmistakable crushed passion, deceptively hypnotic and alluring and yet spiked and primed with a sensuously spell weaving folk majesty much reminiscent of a youthful Jefferson Airplane and Mellow Candle. Don’t believe me eh - then sample the eerily charmed psyche shanty folk hollowness of ’the tale of the mermaids shell’ and the impeccably opined doomed and dark romance of the bewitching ’man and the myth’ - both rendering you low, vulnerable and wide open as they delicately unpick your defences and subdue and hold to ransom your emotions with their scarred tenderness. That said we here are still succumbed and indeed taken by ’wild fire’ which still by our reckoning extrapolates the finest of torched folk blues pedigrees from the back catalogues of both Ms Hersh and Ms Harvey.
